Tom Holland and Zendaya are my OTP. They complement each other perfectly, are adorable, and truly care about each other. So, when Zendaya unfollowed Tom Holland – and everybody else –on Instagram on Jan. 3, people were freaking out. But, no need to worry, the couple is still happily together.
Celebrities following little-to-no people is nothing new. High-profile celebrities like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Beyoncé (with the exception of following her husband, Jay-Z), follow nobody on Instagram. So, when Zendaya, who currently has 184 million followers on Instagram, unfollowed everybody, including her boyfriend Tom Holland, people immediately assumed they broke up.
Holland shut down the breakup rumors earlier this month when a TMZ photographer approached him on Jan. 12. He told the outlet that he and Zendaya were “absolutely not” broken up. So yes, just because Zendaya unfollowed Tom – and everybody else – does not mean they have called it quits.
Holland and Zendaya have kept their relationship as private as two high-profile celebrities can keep it. They met on the set of the Spider-Man: Homecoming, where they played love interests, Peter Parker and MJ.
Following the movie’s release in 2017, romance rumors spread quickly, but a relationship was not confirmed until 2021 when a photographer snapped a photo of them kissing at a stoplight in Los Angeles. They are goals.
They are more public about their relationship now but still continue to keep most aspects of their love life private. In an interview with ELLE in August 2023, Zendaya said, “Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public. I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love. But also, I do have control over what I choose to share.”
Holland had a similar sentiment a few months prior in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “Our relationship is something that we are incredibly protective of and we want to keep as sacred as possible,” he explained. “We don’t think that we owe it to anyone, it’s our thing, and it has nothing to do with our careers.”
Clearly, these two are in love with each other, and Holland made sure to show that they are doing just fine by sharing a photo of Zendaya at the Schiaparelli show during Paris Fashion Week on his Instagram Story on Jan. 23.
He also reposted a video from photographer Bilal Zagaoui of Zendaya arriving at the show. The actor captioned it, “This was made for me 😂”
So, the next time you see a celebrity unfollow everyone, try not to freak out. Unless Olivia Jade unfollows Jacob Elordi again, then you should pay attention.
