If I was Dating Zendaya, I Would Never Shut Up About It Either

Tom Holland and Zendaya – dubbed Tomdaya by their shippers – have been Gen Z’s favorite power couple ever since they were spotted kissing in Holland’s car in July of 2021, officially leaking their relationship status. The two first met on the set of Spiderman: Homecoming in 2016, in which Holland starred as Peter Parker and Zendaya as MJ. Fans were quick to ship the two due to their electric chemistry and witty banter, spurring press junket interview edits galore. Though their relationship was never made public through their own intentions, the two spent years adorably supporting each other in interviews and on social media before they ever started dating.

Holland has firmly established himself as Zendaya’s number one fan, and his Instagram is basically a stan account for her – he posts her all the time. One photo of Zendaya on the red carpet at the CFDA Fashion Awards in 2021 was captioned, “An incredible achievement for the most incredible person. Congrats @zendaya… you deserve every bit of this.” A heart eye emoji accompanied another picture of the star at the premiere of Dune, but perhaps the cutest post from our favorite Zendaya stan is what he uploaded for her birthday earlier this year: a behind the scenes pic that Zendaya snapped of the two in what is presumably a hair and makeup trailer, both in their Spiderman costumes. His caption, “My MJ, have the happiest of birthdays. Gimme a call when [you’re] up xxx,” can melt even the most mushy-captions-and-celebrity-PDA-hating of people, myself included.

But as much as I hate PDA from anyone else, if I were dating Zendaya, I, too, would never shut up about it. Gen Z has been swooning over her since her Disney days, and she’s been standing up for what’s right for just as long, actively and publicly supporting the causes she cares about. She’s “insanely gorgeous inside and out,” as one user on TikTok commented, and is an overall fantastic role model and an incredible inspiration. It would be an honor to be with someone like that; who wouldn’t want to show her off? Between her humor, style, and willingness to speak her mind, Zendaya is the total package. Holland knows it, and despite their preference for privacy, he wants the world to know it, too.

They make a case against the offline boyfriend, proving it’s possible to put your love on blast without oversharing and leaving a jealous wake with every post. Holland has been praising Zendaya on his page since the days where he referred to her as “mate,” and look where he is today! I vote for all partners to post their significant others like Holland posts Zendaya. It’s not about the clout, but about celebrating the person he loves.

The love isn’t one-sided, either; Zendaya also has a partner that she’s insanely proud of, and that leaves fans to question who exactly they’re more jealous of. TBH, Tomdaya should sit down and write out a guidebook for the perfect relationship – watching them go from the BFFs on the Spiderman set to loving each other in real life has been the IRL best-friends-to-lovers arc we’ve all been fantasizing about.

It just goes to show how lucky the couple knows they are to have found each other. They marathon Love Island together, they love to gush about one another to the press, and they give the rest of us goals for our future partners. The Spiderman-co-star-to-couple pipeline is historically unsuccessful, but Tomdaya’s sincere support for one another is what dreams are made of, leaving me confident that if anyone can beat the curse, it’s them.
