UPDATE: Lorde has refuted reports that she is no longer a member of Taylor Swift’s squad with the following tweet:
— Lorde (@lorde) July 7, 2017
ORIGINAL STORY: Remember when Lorde said her friendship with Taylor Swift was “like having a friend with an autoimmune disease“? Well, that might not be the only indication that their relationship isn’t exactly #squadgoals anymore.Â
Although Lorde did apologize for the insensitive comment, her recent interview with Sunrise gave off a vibe that the two singers aren’t really besties anymore…or maybe they never were in the first place. Head to the 1:30 mark of the video below to see what I mean.

Interviewer David Koch began by asking Lorde, “What was it like sort of observing all of those heroes of yours and then starting to mix in those circles after Pure Heroine? Tell me how you coped with that.”
“The second you think too hard about it, you’ll just go insane, so it’s best to be like, ‘We’re in wonderland and that’s just what happens around here,'” Lorde explained with a laugh. “Like also, I don’t hang out with these people at all. I’ve said hi…” Say what?
Obviously, Koch was just as confused, as he quickly interjected, “Hang on, you’re part of Taylor’s squad!”
With a slight groan, Lorde seemed to dodge the question. “You know, you make friends in different places, but for the most part I’m not like, calling up my idols for advice necessarily,” she responded.Â
So is the squad no more? Did Lorde return her friendship bracelet? Although Lorde didn’t mention Taylor specifically, she wasn’t exactly enthused when her name and the squad were mentioned. If Lorde and Taylor aren’t #squadgoals anymore, then who is?
