Veronica Krantz: jane of all trades

Name: Veronica (Vin) Krantz

Claim to fame: Jane of all trades
Year: Senior class of 2011 woohoo
School: Barnard duhh
Major: Psychology and pre-med

Relationship status: perpetually single

On-campus activities: Relay for Life Planning Committee, Columbia University Dance Marathon, Columbia University Disciplinary Council for Sexual Assault Crimes on Campus, Consent is Sexy, Take Back the Night, CU Couture, Psych Club, Charles Drew Pre-Medical Society, Ukranian Students Society, Columbia Queer Alliance, Intramural Soccer and Volleyball, used to work at the Barnard Clothing Store, and was the coxswain on the Columbia Crew Team my freshmen year

Pet peeves: Cockiness, unnecessary awkwardness, mayonaise, teachers who think their class is the only one your taking, freshmen who take the senior elevator, my allergies, things that are obviously overpriced like Morton Williams, being germaphobic, boys who wipe the lipstick mark off their cheek

Dream job: Having a Private Psychotherapy Practice in NYC

If you were stuck on a desert island, you would need: TV with TIVO and unlimited amount of my mom’s baked ziti and ice cream, and a deck of cards, and obvi all my friends, but I don’t know if that counts

Every girl needs these three things in their closet: a fabulous winter coat, a really sexy yet comfortable pair of high heels, any favorite item handed down from your mom or grandma

Describe your style: sexy babydoll or super glamorous – big sunglasses and all

How do you decide what to wear in the mornings? It is a mix between weather, my mood, how much time I have to get ready and what I’m doing throughout the day…but the most important thing is to be true to yourself. If you’re having a bad day, don’t hesitate to break out the “I’ve got the blues, but this always cheers me up shirt.”

Perfect date in seven words or less: cute, sexy, funny, genuine, interesting, and engaging – a gentleman

Dream Husband: Someone who loves and appreciates me and doesn’t take me for granted and someone who I am passionate about and vice versa, and someone who is silly and makes me laugh and just accepts me for me, and good genes don’t hurt.

HamDel decides to name a sandwich after you (what’s it called, what is in it): it is called the “Vinny Baby” and inside is super rare roast beef, avocado, and stinky blue cheese, and a smidge of balsamic on a holly bread roll–my mom’s master invention after working at Aunt Cookie’s Sub Shop all through college at SUNY Geneseo

Favorite off-campus location: If you mean in the neighborhood, I’d say 1020–since it has stood the test of time and seen me through all 4 years her. Outside of Morningside Heights, I would say Patricia Field’s clothing shop on Bowery between Bleeker and Houston, or Angelo’s of Mulberry Street in Little Italy, or Peking Duck House in Chinatown.

Spirit animal: An elephant because it is always hard to ignore the elephant in the room

Top three albums of all time: Alanis Morissette’s greatest hits, Billy Joel/Elton John’s greatest hits, and anything by Rihanna

If you could have a super power, what would it be and why? I would have powers like cupid and I would make it so that everyone finds love in their life, because it is a tough world out there and no one should have to face it alone without a partner in crime.

If you could invite anyone to dinner, you would ask: Jackie O’ to ask her what it takes to be so fabulous and one of the world’s biggest fashion icons. Or Dr. Kinsey, who was the main person after Freud to truly study sexuality out in the open without fear. If I had to choose someone alive, I would say Meryl Streep, because I have always loved her movies and after I was so inspired by her graduation speech last year, I know she is such a beautiful person inside and out.

Plans after graduation: Don’t ask!
