A Virginia GOP Candidate Made The Most Bizarre Campaign Video & I Can’t Even Believe My Eyes

American political ads come in all shapes, sizes and amounts of weirdness. It seems like there’s always one particularly bizarre one during major election cycles that ends up making the rounds on the Internet, but West Virginia Republican Patrick Morrisey’s most recent ad might just be the strangest yet. It features flying mountains, according to Bustle.

Morrisey’s political ad debuted on Twitter on Thursday. The video is only 30 seconds long, but it’s packed full of sound bites alongside the levitating mountain. The tweet that accompanied the video said, “I’m running for U.S. Senate not to just change Washington [D.C.] but to blow it up and reinvent it. Washington is fundamentally broken. We can fix that with a West Virginia conservative fighter.”

The first few scenes of the political ad are like any other, with evocative visuals such as a man being led away in handcuffs while an intense voiceover describes how Morrisey “blocked Obama’s illegal amnesty plan.” A good deal of the video is against various legislation and ideas enacted by former President Barack Obama. Specifically, his “war on jobs,” as the video calls it.

Then, things take a turn for the odd. West Virginia’s landmark Seneca Rocks are shown uprooting themselves and soaring into the sky, where they seem to make a beeline straight for Capitol Hill and smash into the building. Morrisey pops back into the ad with a thumbs up to say, “That’s better! We’ll take on Washington liberals.”

Morrisey goes on to boast about his A plus NRA rating as well as his continuing dedication to many other conservative political values for the remainder of the ad.

Reactions on Twitter varied from amused and entertained by the absurdity of the ad to angry at the values it espoused:

It’s honestly impressive that all of the content of the ad was jammed into just 30 seconds. It’s truly a wild ride from start to finish.
