Bama Rush Is Over, But There’s *Another* Event After Bid Day

As the end of August approaches, so does the end of Bama Rush TikTok. Bama Rush 2023 gave us some great breakout influencers and made our jaws drop at the prices of their outfits — and then we all cried when Bama Morgan was dropped, right? It’s safe to say that everyone’s TikTok feed was taken over by Bama Rush, but what happens after Bid Day?

For a typical university, Bid Day marks the moment when PNMs — or potential new members — “run home” to the sorority they received a bid from, and they officially become new members of their respective sorority chapters. From there, Bid Day is commemorated by a huge party where the new members of the chapter meet girls in their pledge class and their already initiated sisters, kind of like that dance party scene from Barbie (you know, the one at Barbie’s Dreamhouse).

Naturally, Bama Rush has to be bigger and better than any other university’s Bid Day. After completing each round, the 2,500 University of Alabama freshmen received bids at Bryant-Denny Stadium and the pledges sprinted to their new houses on Sorority Row, Tuscaloosa News reported.

What happens after Bama Rush Bid Day?

After Bid Day comes the retreat that each pledge class attends immediately following Bid Day to bond with their new pledge sisters, learn about their sororities, and celebrate finding their new homes on campus.

The retreat is typically held at a camp or a hotel, and members come back to campus later the next day. The retreats we’ve seen are an Instagram influencer’s dream, filled with balloons and hundreds of photo-ops.

In the meantime, local vendors deliver New Member Packages to the sorority houses post Bid Day in anticipation of the new members’ return from their new member retreats, according to the University of Alabama’s panhellenic association.

Although Bid Day marks the end of the beloved Bama Rush 2023 season, this won’t be the last you see of your favorite rush girls on TikTok. Chances are you’ll probably see them promoting next year’s Bama Rush or just floating around your FYP like Kylan Darnell.
