Utah residents were shocked and angry last week to discover a billboard for WhereWhitePeopleMeet.com, a site for—you guessed it—white people to romantically connect with other pale folk, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.
While you may think this site doesn’t need to exist, WhereWhitePeopleMeet.com justifies itself using the ol’ “Why’s there no WHITE history month?” excuse: “There are various dating websites that promote and cater to just about every origin, race, religion and lifestyle out there. So again, why not ‘Where White People Meet.Com’?”
The Tribune reports that people were outraged but also confused at the billboard’s placement in Utah, which census records estimate to be 91 percent white.
This dating site joins a long tradition of white people totally not getting the idea that other groups might want to carve out some space just for themselves, while whites don’t need to do that because most things in society were created specifically for them. Remember those fake White Student Unions that were popping up a few months ago?
It seems the only good news is that anyone who joins WhereWhitePeopleMeet.com is almost certainly someone you don’t want to date anyway.
