If you’re familiar with the music industry at all, there’s a good chance you know who Scooter Braun is. Whether you’ve known of him because he discovered Justin Bieber back in 2008, or because of him taking Taylor’s Swift’s masters, or just the recent strange phenomenon where some of his big clients have dropped him as their manager, his name and who he manages are sure to have come up in conversation a time or two before.
If you don’t know what’s been happening recently, it has come out that some of Braun’s clients have dropped him and are no longer managed by him, from Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande to, most recently, Idina Menzel. Braun has even acknowledged the situation by posting on social media, “Breaking news… I’m no longer managing myself.” Given the fact that those are some of the most popular artists under his management at SB Projects, it’s left everyone wondering: Who does Scooter Braun still manage?
- Justin Bieber
-
Bieber was the first artist to be managed by Braun after discovering him on YouTube at 13 years old. Originally, there were rumors that he was also leaving Braun’s company and looking for new management, but those were later confirmed to be false by both Braun and Bieber’s teams.
- Dan + Shay
-
Known for songs such as “Speechless” and “That’s Not How This Works,” Dan + Shay are a country duo consisting of Shay Mooney and Dan Smyers. They have been working with Braun since 2018.
- Black-Eyed Peas
-
We have the Black-Eyed Peas to thank for party songs like “Boom Boom Pow,” “Let’s Get It Started,” and “I Gotta Feeling.” Braun started managing the group in 2015. It’s important to note, though, that he doesn’t manage will.i.am and Fergie individually. Will.i.am is managed by Seth Friedman, and Fergie is managed by David Sonenberg and William Derella.
- Ava Max
-
Ava Max is known for her song “Sweet But Psycho.” She is one of the more recent artists to be under Braun’s management as she was just signed by SB Projects in early 2023 (though she is represented by Allison Kaye under SB Projects, and not Braun himself).
- Tori Kelly
-
Tori Kelly started out on Youtube and was also on American Idol. Her most popular songs include “Dear No One” and “I Was Made For Loving You,” which she made with Ed Sheeran. She is one of the earliest stars to be managed by Braun, as he started managing her in 2013.
- David Guetta
-
David Guetta is a DJ known for working on songs such as “Without You” and “Titanium.” Braun has managed him since 2017.
- Hilary Duff
-
Whether you knew her from Lizzie McGuire, A Cinderella Story, or her iconic album, Metamorphosis, there’s no doubt that Hilary Duff had an impact on Gen Z’s childhood. Braun became her manager in 2016.
- Carly Rae Jepsen
-
Carly Rae Jepsen first hit the music scene when she released “Call Me Maybe” in 2011. According to Billboard, Braun “went on a rampage” to track her down after the song was released and began managing her in 2012.
- Jenna Raine
-
Jenna Raine is a newer artist whose song “see you later (ten years)” went viral on TikTok in 2021. Since then, she has signed a deal with Warner Records and SB Projects. Most recently, though, she released an EP, Big Dumb Heart, Chapter 1.
- PSY
-
Singer, rapper and songwriter, PSY is most known for his song, “Gangnam Style” that took the world by storm in 2012 and has been managed by Braun since then. He also, however, founded his own entertainment company in South Korea, P Nation, which manages K-pop artists like Crush and Heize, so Braun probably only manages him in the U.S. market.
- The Kid Laroi
-
The Kid Laroi is a rapper most known for his song “Stay” that he recorded with Bieber, a fellow SB Projects client. He originally signed with Braun in June 2021, but left three months later due to “significant problems” that consisted of Braun not “participating directly enough with Laroi.” However, the departure didn’t last very long, and he went back to being managed by Braun in May 2022.
Despite some of Braun’s biggest clients leaving his management, he still has quite the roster of celebrity figures that work with him. These are just some of the more notable names, but he manages 20 other celebrities under SB Projects. Will any of them leave like Grande and Lovato? We’ll just have to wait to find out.
