If you’ve ever gone through a breakup with a significant other, then you understand how much it sucks. The heartbreak alone is enough to make you not want to get out of bed some days but one thing that always seems to help a lot of people get through this tough experience is music. A lot of us — even celebrities — use music to feel less alone when dealing with a breakup.
Take TikToker and DJ Xandra Pohl, for instance. She recently called it quits on her longtime boyfriend Jack Touzet and in the wake of their split, she’s embracing her “sad girl playlist” to get her through the breakup.
On Jan. 17, Pohl revealed in a TikTok video that she’s “not feeling great” or “OK” amid her breakup from Touzet. But instead of staying cooped inside, Pohl shared that she was going to force herself to go for a walk and listen to her “sad girl playlist.” And Pohl definitely knows the vibes needed for a sad girl walk, because she named Tate McRae and Olivia Rodrigo as two singers she planned on listening to as she walked and sobbed.
“I just feel like it’s going to be really good for me and really healing,” Pohl said. “And it’s kind of raining outside so it’s adding to the aesthetic.”
For those who don’t know, both McRae and Rodrigo are known for their sad girl anthems, which are definitely needed when one’s going through a breakup. Listening to these two artists after getting your heart broken can be very therapeutic and it’s clear Pohl is in need of some sad girl songs at the moment.
As the video continued, Pohl shared that she’d grabbed herself an iced latte but started crying in the coffee shop once Taylor Swift started playing. Another queen of sad songs.
Since Pohl and Touzet were together for about three years, it’s no surprise that this breakup has been tough for her. Though she revealed that it’s been a month since she and Touzet went their separate ways, getting over a split isn’t something that happens overnight.
Pohl is doing what she can to heal and move on and thanks to the help of her sad girl playlist and her fans who’ve been super supportive, it’s only a matter of time before she gets out of the breakup funk.
So Xandra, just know that better days will come and until they do, keep crying it out while listening to Tate McRae and Olivia Rodrigo. And when you’re ready, go ahead and share that sad girl playlist.
