This morning, I was greeted not only with my Spotify Wrapped 2023, but with a special surprise from my mother, Taylor Swift. After finding out that Swift was my top artist of the year (no surprises here), I headed to Instagram to see if she had any special messages for her fans. And y’all… she had a big one. Taylor Swift finally released “You’re Losing Me (From The Vault)” everywhere. Looks like Christmas came early this year!
But, the fun doesn’t stop there. Swift was also named Spotify’s Global Top Artist of 2023, according to a video from Taylor Nation. In said video, it was listed that Taylor had more than 26 billion streams in 2023. Let that sink in for a minute.
In the caption, Taylor Nation wrote, “We couldn’t ignore her, she’s the best thing in 2023. 👑 Taylor is @Spotify’s Global Top Artist! #SpotifyWrapped” before adding, “You guys said, ‘Do something babe. Put it on streaming!’ So to celebrate this year’s success, ‘You’re Losing Me (From The Vault)’ is out everywhere now! 🕰️”
Swift also posted about the release in the sweetest way on her Instagram in celebration of her Global Top Artist recognition. I just love her.
If you’re wondering why the release of this song is so important to Swifties, let me fill you in. During the US leg of The Era’s Tour, a big event happened in Swift’s life — she and her former partner of six years, Joe Alwyn, broke up. The world stopped (at least for me). Swift didn’t say anything about the breakup, but she did release “You’re Losing Me (From The Vault)” while she was performing at MetLife Stadium on May 26, 2023. However, she only released the song on physical CDs that were sold at the stadium — so a only select few were able to listen to the song. Of course, people found ways to listen to the song on Google Drive, and some YouTube videos, but, everything got deleted. However, we survived “The Great War,” and finally have this song on streaming platforms.
It’s safe to say that Swifties everywhere are “losing” it. (See what I did there?) Personally, I am thrilled to have “You’re Losing Me (From The Vault)” on streaming platforms. It’s already made its way into several of my Spotify playlists.
Users on X/Twitter are especially thrilled about this, and TBH, I’m right there with them.
Some Swifties are really in their feels about this.
So, truly, how long can we be a sad song? We may never know, but all I do know is that I will continually listen to “You’re Losing Me (From The Vault)” on repeat.
