One of the topics he discusses is his past battle with an eating disorder back in 2014 and 2015. While he was traveling and making music with the band, he felt insurmountable pressure from executives to have his life perfectly in order.
He writes, “I didn’t feel like I had control over anything else in my life, but food was something I could control, so I did… I had lost so much weight I had become ill. The workload and the pace of life on the road put together with the pressures and strains of everything going on within the band had badly affected my eating habits.”
Malik revealed would go would go two or three days without food sometimes.
Zayn has always been sincere, honest and open with his fans, so hearing this story from him is no surprise. Oftentimes, eating disorders are attributed exclusively to women. But that could not be more dangerous; eating disorders don’t discriminate. We’re so proud of Zayn for opening up about his past and being part of the population that breaks the stigma about eating disorders affecting everyone.
