Toy Story 4 is coming this June, but don’t expect all of the characters to look the same — especially not Bo Peep.
Pixar debuted a new poster for the film on Monday, and Bo Peep’s signature bonnet and polka dot dress are nowhere to be found. Instead, she’s sporting pants and a cape, though she does still have her staff (and a cute pink bow!).

The third Toy Story came out nearly ten years ago, but Bo Peep wasn’t actually in the film. She last appeared in Toy Story 2, and until the announcement of the fourth film, many fans had been left wondering what happened to her — especially since, at one point, her and Woody were a widely adored couple.
Luckily, Annie Potts, who voiced Bo Peep in the first two films, is returning to the role for the upcoming movie. “She is modern, independent, capable and confident,” Potts said of her character. “Bo is written and conceived to be inspiring, as she has weathered life’s ups and downs with grace. I aspire to that.”
Also returning are Tom Hanks as Woody and Tim Allen as Buzz. Toy Story 4 picks up with them and the rest of Andy’s toys living with Bonnie, where they’ll be joined by a new faces like Forky. Voiced by Tony Hale, Forky is a newly created, self-crafted toy having an existential crisis. It’s when Woody sets out to help him that he’s eventually reunited with Bo Peep.
Where has she been all this time? According to Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley, she’s “taken control of her own destiny.”
“While Woody was watching Andy grow up, Bo gathered dust until she took it upon herself to head out into the world,” he said. “And when Woody shows up, they can’t believe that they’ve found each other again.”
Cooley added, “After years of being on her own, Bo’s adventurous spirit and life on the road belie her delicate porcelain exterior. As Woody and Bo realize they’re worlds apart when it comes to life as a toy, they soon come to find that’s the least of their worries.”
BRB, counting down the days ’til Toy Story 4‘s release on June 21.
