Actress Chloë Grace Moretz is busy promoting her new movie Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising—a much-anticipated sequel to the Zac Efron gun show that was Neighbors. But it seems like people would much rather talk about her recent Twitter feud with reality TV star Kim Kardashian.
A few months ago, Moretz replied to a Kim K. tweet that broke the Internet (again!). Kardashian posted a nude mirror selfie, along with the caption, “When you’re like I have nothing to wear…” and received a ton of feedback, both negative and positive.
Moretz, a self-proclaimed feminist advocate, wasn’t amused.
@KimKardashian I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than-

In a recent interview with Glamour magazine, Moretz explained her side of the story. “I had just gotten off a plane from South Korea, I was incredibly jet-lagged, and I couldn’t take one more thing. I saw that photo, and I had to say something. That picture wasn’t linked to body confidence. It wasn’t a #BodyConfidence or #LoveWhoYouAre. It was done in a slightly voyeuristic light, which I felt was a little inappropriate for young women to see,” she says.
Moretz adds that Kardashian’s tweet suggests to young girls that this is what they have to do to get more likes or attract more followers on social media. Moretz explains, “When I post a bikini shot, I get thousands of new followers.” But that’s not why she does it. “I do it because it’s a body-confidence thing. I posted one in Mexico. I felt good, and I was wearing a bikini. It wasn’t me sexualizing myself.”
As for Kardashian’s insulting reply, Moretz says that it didn’t bother her very much because it wasn’t an intellectual response that furthered the conversation about body image and feminist values. “It was aggressive, and also it was incorrect. I don’t have 45 million followers or a TV show that follows my life. But people know who I am. I pride myself on having opinions, and I don’t express them in snarky ways toward people.”
With her on- and off-screen confidence and her willingness to stand up for what she believes in, 19-year-old Chloë Grace Moretz is definitely a force to reckon with in Hollywood.
