Chris Evans & Jenny Slate Are the Nicest Exes Ever

There’s no bad blood here. ExesĀ Chris Evans and Jenny Slate have nothing but good things to say about each other. As the press tour for their upcoming filmĀ GiftedĀ begins, the pair’sĀ kind words about each other are sure to make their reunion less awkward.

Just last week Slate opened upĀ toĀ New York magazineĀ about falling in and out of love with Evans. In theĀ feature, she had this to say about meeting her former boyfriend: “I remember him saying to me, ā€˜Youā€™re going to be one of my closest friends.ā€™ I was just like, ā€˜Man, I fucking hope this isnā€™t a lie, because Iā€™m going to be devastated if this guy isnā€™t my friend.ā€™ā€ ā€…Ā

She continued, ā€œI donā€™t mind talking about him at all. Heā€™s a lovely personā€¦Ā Chris is truly one of the kindest people Iā€™ve ever met, to the point where sometimes I would look at him and it would kind of break my heart. Heā€™s really vulnerable, and heā€™s really straightforward. Heā€™s like primary colors. He has beautiful, big, strong emotions, and heā€™s really sure of them. Itā€™s just wonderful to be around. His heart is probably golden-colored, if you could paint it.”Ā

So where do they stand? Slate explained, ā€œWeā€™re not on bad terms, but we havenā€™t really seen each other, spoken a lot. I think itā€™s probably best. Iā€™d love to be his friend one day, but we threw down pretty hard. No regrets, though. Ever.ā€

Now Evans is reciprocatingĀ the sweetness, tellingĀ PeopleĀ that Slate is his “favorite human.”

ā€œSheā€™s the best.Ā Iā€™ve never ever ever met someone in my life who has a mastery of the English language the way she does. Sheā€™ll give you one sentence and thereā€™s no fat to it. Youā€™re like, ā€˜You just chose such an unbelievable collection of words that beautifully articulate what you say,'” Chris explains. “Itā€™s like an art form talking with her, because the visuals associated with her expression areĀ just so colorful.”

But that’s not all. He continues to rave about her.Ā “Sheā€™s so vulnerable, so honest, so interested in other people more than herself, sheā€™s incredibly compassionate, thereā€™s just nothing to not love about her.ā€

A failed relationship turned beautiful friendship?Ā You can’t complain about that.
