What’s Wrong With Fandango’s List of Most Anticipated Movies This Year?

Fandango just released their annual list of the Most Anticipated Movies for the upcoming year, and we can’t help but feel a little (okay—a lot) disappointed. Take a look at the list, below:

1. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (December 16)

2. Finding Dory (June 17)

3. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (March 25)

4. Untitled Jason Bourne Movie (July 29)

5. Captain America: Civil War (May 6)

6. Star Trek Beyond (July 22)

7. Independence Day: Resurgence (June 24)

8. X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27)

9. Zoolander No. 2 (February 12)

10. The Jungle Book (April 15)

Notice anything off? If you didn’t, here’s a hint: Finding Dory is the only movie with a female lead (Ellen Degeneres)… and that female lead is animated. Though the list was voted on by viewers, they’re not the only ones to blame. It’s no secret that Hollywood doesn’t quite treat men and women the same. But that doesn’t make it easier for us to see it written out so plainly in Fandango’s list. After all, there are some amazing women starring in upcoming films, like the kick-ass ladies in the Ghostbusters remake.

Regardless of this less-than-stellar, less-than-inclusive list, there are some amazing female-led films to get pumped about in 2016. The Huntsman: Winter’s War, The Girl on the Train, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, to name a few. Which ones are you most excited to see?
