It’s Mardi Gras, collegiettes™!
French for “Fat Tuesday,” Mardi Gras is a celebration of pigging out on fatty foods before fasting for the Lenten Season.
But considering I lost 5 lbs. this week, I won’t be doing that! I’m happy to say that in my second week of eating healthy meals and 45-minute cardio sessions five times a week, that brings my total weight loss to date to 9 lbs.!
Normally this year, you would hear of my plans to eat pancakes for dinner, but I’m not sorry to say that won’t be happening this year.
Instead of a pancake breakfast for dinner, I’ll be opting for the SELF magazine Jump Start Diet‘s breakfast at night option: an omelet.
I’m giving this cooking thing a try tonight, I mean how hard is it to make an omelet? Doesn’t seem too bad, and I’ll be sure to tell you all about it tomorrow! Super excited!
Another new thing I tried today was Greek yogurt for breakfast. Let me tell you, I am in love.
Last week, Liliana commented on my blog and recommended that I try Stonyfield’s Oikos Greek yogurt. “Greek yogurt is better than just regular yogurt is that it has been strained to remove the whey, so even non-fat varieties are creamy and delicious,” she said.
The Jump Start Diet recommended this option as well for breakfast, but adding 1 cup of berries and a 2 tablespoons of crushed walnuts to make it into a parfait. I hate walnuts so I added 1 tablespoon of granola instead.
I’m not sure why but I was hesitant to try it at first, so I only picked up 2 yogurts at the grocery store. But now I know to make a note on my grocery list to pick up more!
