15 Things That ALWAYS Happen on New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve is one of the most exciting celebrations of the year—after all, it practically signifies a new chapter of your life. However, the more New Year’s Eves you celebrate, the more you begin to notice that there are some things that never change about this new beginning. Here are 15 things that always happen on New Year’s Eve.

1. Your eyeliner is never on point.

Practice does not make perfect in this case.

2. There’s always that one couple that won’t stop making out.

Do you guys ever come up for air?

3. You always get jealous of the city that celebrates New Year’s Eve hours before you.

Damn that thing called time change.

4. Someone always brings up politics and a huge debate ensues.

I don’t want to talk about Donald Trump, I just want to drink champagne.

5. That one friend of yours always gets drunk.

And then somehow you end up having to take care of her.

6. You get way too excited with your friends about all your plans for the new year.

Between roadtrips, summer flings and acing all your classes, this is going to be YOUR year.

7. Your outfit isn’t as cute as you remember it being when you bought it.

Does this dress make my hips look weird or is it the lighting?

8. There’s always one person who won’t stop talking about their resolutions.

We get it, this is the year you’ll start doing yoga. Just like it was last year and the one before that.

9. You never seem to find someone to kiss when the clock strikes midnight.

This will be the year you find someone!

10. You always wear shoes that turn out to be super uncomfortable.

But they were just so pretty, you had to wear them.

11. Someone always asks if this is the year you’ll figure out what to do with your life.

And you’ll think “Is this the year you’ll stop being annoying?”

12. Your plans never seem to turn out as expected.

But, you still manage to have fun somehow.

13. You end up getting way too nostalgic about this past year.

For some reason, you just don’t want to let it go.

14. And that means you always start crying a few—or a lot of—tears.

But 2015 was just so good!

15. However, you always end up wondering what amazing things this New Year will bring.

It’ll have its ups and downs, but you’re aiming for mostly ups.

As scary as it can be starting a new year, you always end up being excited for this new chapter in your life. Enjoy your New Year’s Eve celebrations, collegiettes. And, more so, enjoy the new year ahead of you!
