You may only be a month or two into classes, but it’s obvious that you are already done with this semester. From your untouched textbooks to the constant talk of winter break, you are counting down the days until this semester comes to an end. Here are 18 reasons you’re over this semester. And don’t worry—we’re with you.Â
1. You’ve given up on going to your 8:00 AM class.
It’s not like this semester was going to be any different.
2. You read the textbook once, and that was enough.
Why do you have to learn so much about the French Revolution?
3. You stopped using your planner the day you bought it.
Looking at it was too stressful.
4. You’d rather gain weight than go to the gym.Â
Bring on the Freshman 15 or Freshman 30 or Freshman 45.Â
5. You can’t see the bottom of your backpack.
Underneath the granola bar wrappers and crinkled notes, your calculator has to be somewhere.
6. You haven’t touched your stovetop all semester.
Well, it’s not like you’re in school to become a culinary chef. Unless you are. If so, props.
7. You can’t be bothered to buy groceries.
You’ll only walk out of the store with Oreos and 10-minute pizza anyway.
8. You threw your textbooks in some random place and can’t find them now.
But it’s not like you’re going to use them, so…
9. You’ve already gone through three different shows on Netflix.
The struggle—to decide which show to watch next—is real.
10. You spent most of your semester’s budget in the past few weeks.
Mom and Dad can never know. Â
11. So you have resorted to take-out menus and microwavable popcorn.
The pizza delivery man knows you by name.
12. You’ve been wearing the same pair of sweats for the past three days.
They don’t smell too bad.
13. You’ve given up on achieving Dean’s List.
You’ve managed to stay in school all this time, and that’s enough.
14. You have a list of elaborate reasons to skip class.
You take pride in having the best excuses.
15. You know that “assigned reading” does not mean “mandatory.”
It’s important to be able to interpret things correctly.
16. You’re counting down the days until winter break.
Correction: counting down the days until FREEDOM.
17. You’ve already started playing Christmas music.
The earlier you play it, the earlier Christmas comes, right?
18. You know exactly what grades you need to not fail.
Because that’s all that really matters.Â
We totally get it. There are so many other things we’d rather be doing than cooping ourselves up in the library. But remember to play hard and work hard. Even though you may not want to now, keeping up with your schoolwork will pay off in the end. Stay strong, collegiettes!Â
