5 Group Halloween Costumes for 2013

Why fly solo on Halloween this year when you can round up a crowd? Check out the best group Halloween costumes for 2013!

1. One Direction in the “Best Song Ever” Music Video

We can’t be the only ones who thought that Harry, Louis, Zayn, Liam and Niall looked completely adorable working their quirky “Best Song Ever” music video looks. Round up four of your friends and embrace the boys’ alter egos: Louis and Niall as two paunchy, middle-aged industry execs; Harry as the nerdy, sweater-vested Marcel; Liam as Leeroy, the campy choreographer and Zayn as Veronica, the blushing secretary. Bonus points if you can convince a guy friend of yours to look just as sexy in a pencil skirt!

2. The Bling Ring Crew

There were many things to love about The Bling Ring, but hands down, some of the best parts of this satirical black comedy were the costumes. Inspired by the decked-out closets of the A-list celebrities the real-life Bling Ring stole from, all the looks were over-the-top and so Hollywood – perfect for a ridiculous and fun group costume. Sure, you probably won’t be able to score a real Balenciaga bag or a Versace dress, but that doesn’t mean you can’t channel the group’s flashy LA style. Fur vests, cutoffs, bug-eyed shades, studded jackets, bling galore – throw it all together without much rhyme or reason, and you’ll be rolling like the Bling Ring crew.

3. Geriatric Boy Bands

The *NSYNC reunion may have been the highlight of the 2013 VMAs, but there’s no denying that our favorite boy band was looking a little past their prime. If you want a group costume that’s equal parts throwback and comic relief, dress up like a geriatric boy band. Choose your favorite ‘90s boy band look (hint: no matter which you choose, there will likely be baggy pants involved), then pile on some old geezer goods. Just some gray or white temporary hairspray, fake spectacles, drawn-on wrinkles and a cane or two, and you and your friends will be ready to bring da noise and bring down the house
 retirement-home style.

4. Post-Apocalyptic Celebs

Tired of dressing up as your favorite celebrity every year? Mix it up and get together a crew of celebs – after the apocalypse. Whether you draw inspiration from this year’s blockbuster This Is the End and imagine your faves left behind in the rapture or deck them out in their zombie-fighting best, a post-apocalyptic theme could be just what you need to spice up your group costume. Dirty yourself up, rip and shred your best celeb outfit and don’t forget to stock up on a (fake!) machete or two, and you’ve got yourself an A-list crew at the end of the world.

5. The Ladies of Orange Is the New Black

Okay, the orange and tan jumpsuits might not leave much room for creativity, but you can’t deny that the chance to dress as the BAMF women of the latest Netflix hit makes up for it. Dig up some standard prison jumpsuit costumes, DIY it with some T-shirts and sweats or do a bit of Goodwill- or Salvation-Army-hunting for lookalike scrubs. Just don’t forget your backstory for why you ended up in the slammer!
