We’ve all heard it before: “Wow, that’s such an easy major.” Whether you’ve said it yourself or have been a victim of the statement, it’s something that stirs up some controversy. After all, what makes one major “easier” than another? The truth is, a person doesn’t really understand the “difficulty” of a major unless they’re in it. Here are some thoughts we have when someone tells us our major is easy:
1. Did they seriously just say that?
2. They don’t even know me.
3. What’s their major? Neuroscience?
4. Do they even know what my major entails?
5. What makes a major “harder” than another anyway?
6. Do they think they’re better than me?
7. Why do people have to be this way?
8. I’d like to see them do [whatever you do in your major].
9. I want to punch them in the face.
10. How’d they even have the nerve to say that?
11. Would a college even have “easy” majors?
12. Do they now feel better about themselves?
13. I can’t deal with this ignorance.
14. You know what? I don’t even care.
15. This conversation is now over.
Remember collegiettes, no major is “easy!” Just because majors are different doesn’t mean one is better than another.
