The Dunkin’ Pumpkin Spice Latte Release Date Is Already Here, So Run, Don’t Walk

The heat waves of summer 2023 have had many people dreaming of autumn. If you’re dreaming of pumpkin patch photo shoots, spooky Halloween decorations, and a closet full of sweaters and scarves, you aren’t alone. Fall is getting closer and closer, and so is one of the most iconic beverages of the season: the pumpkin spice latte. And of course, Dunkin’s Pumpkin Spice Latte is one of the best — and the popular drink’s release date is finally here.

Pumpkin spice lattes are arguably the most popular fall drinks, and their release every year signals the “official” beginning of fall. Just like when stores start selling Halloween decorations and candy, when the biggest coffee chains in the country announce PSL season, everyone gets excited.

One of those chains is Dunkin’. The donut and coffee shop, with thousands of restaurants around the world, is one of the most popular shops among coffee drinkers. Millions of Dunkin’ customers have been waiting all year for the store to announce when the 2023 PSL will drop.

On Aug. 8, their dreams came true when Dunkin’ made an announcement on Instagram. The video Dunkin’ posted showed a man dropping a piece of paper that read, “Pumpkin is back 8/16.” Dunkin’ also released a fall menu statement to Her Campus: “While we can’t spill the beans just yet on all things fall, Dunkin’ is getting ready to *spice* things up this season starting August 16.”

Dunkin’s announcement was met with praise and excitement from fans, especially since it was one of the first major chains to hint at their fall menu. The announcement did seem to be timely, however, since they announced the 2022 PSL on August 10 and dropped it on August 17.

As of Aug. 16, coffee drinkers can sip a Dunkin’ PSL for the first time during the 2023 season, along with the rest of the goodies in their fall 2023 menu — Nutty Pumpkin Coffee, the Pumpkin Swirl, Pumpkin Cake Donuts, Pumpkin Munchkins, Pumpkin Muffins, and Maple Sugar Bacon. 

Pumpkin spice lattes and other fall menu items have been released earlier and earlier throughout the years — not just by Dunkin’, but by many other popular restaurants. According to TODAY.com, Krispy Kreme announced their fall menu on August 7, and 7-Eleven released theirs on August 1.

Meanwhile, one of the other most popular coffee chains, Starbucks, has stayed silent about their PSL release date. Many customers have shared their theories on when the Starbucks PSL will be released, but as of now, the 2023 fall menu remains elusive.
