If you’re a high school junior or senior, you might be dreading the g-word (graduation), especially if you have no clue what you’re going to do for college. Of course, walking across that stage in the spring can be very triumphant, but we all know the number one question a high school senior gets: “What are you doing after you graduate?”

With college application fees, figuring out how many schools to apply to, and the many other stressors of senior year, it’s a struggle to plan your next steps. Luckily, College Board’s BigFuture is here to help!

College Board – which is known for contributing to students’ success in higher education – created BigFuture, a free online planning guide designed to help students take the right first step after high school, offering college and career resources along with advice on navigating which path is best for them.

If you’re still figuring out what to do after you graduate high school, check out our fave tips below. And, be sure to head to BigFuture for more guidance in creating your future, your way!

Create a Checklist

One way to stay organized and on track with deadlines and requirements is to create a checklist. BigFuture offers a checklist for high school students to stay on track to graduate, including tasks like adding to your college list, prepping for standardized tests, and exploring scholarships. With this list on BigFuture, you can stay on top of everything and make the chaos a bit more organized!

Take a Career Quiz

If you feel yourself in a sort of college-career limbo where you don’t really have an idea what you want to do, taking quizzes on BigFuture about careers, scholarships, and college can help! BigFuture offers a Career Quiz that uses what you like, don’t like, and what areas you’re interested in to connect you to possible future careers – which can also help you narrow down potential majors and minors, what classes to take, and what school to go to!

Do Some Research

When sorting out the next steps after high school, spend some time doing extensive research on potential universities. To find the best fit for you, research into what each school offers is a great way to be particular and careful with your college selection. The Big Future website has a lengthy directory with tons of universities to look through according to your area of study, location, and budget. With this directory, you can add each possible university to your list and start applying or requesting info!

If you’re still figuring out what to do for college, that’s totally okay, and it’s totally normal. The next chapter after high school is one of the biggest decisions of your life, but you don’t have to do it alone. if you’re still in your, “I’m undecided” era, resources such as College Board’s BigFuture can help. This process can seem pretty difficult but thanks to BigFuture, it doesn’t have to be.
