I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but peppermint mocha season is officially over, besties. But as you say your goodbyes to holiday flavors, the good news is that you can ring in the new year with a drink more suited to new beginnings. That’s right — say hello to Starbucks’ new winter menu for January 2024, which debuted on Jan. 3.
If you’re an iced-drinks-all-the-time person, you’ll love these new menu additions. Starbucks just introduced the new Iced Shaken Hazelnut Oatmilk Espresso to their permanent menu and announced the return of the Pistachio Cream Cold Brew to the winter menu. The Iced Shaken Hazelnut Oatmilk Espresso is pretty self-explanatory: Your barista will shake up some Starbucks Blonde Espresso and hazelnut syrup before topping it with oat milk. If cutting out dairy is a New Year’s resolution you’re hoping to stick to, this might be the starter drink for you.
If you’re more of the “WTF, it’s January, my drinks need to be hot” type, don’t worry, there’s still something for you, too, with the return of the Pistachio Latte. Both pistachio drinks are only around for a limited time, BTW, so if you’re hoping to sip on one of them, don’t miss your chance.
But if drinks aren’t enough and you’re feeling like getting a little treat, the winter menu also includes some new and returning bites. The all-new Potato, Cheddar & Chive Bakes are joining the winter menu, with their comforting combo of eggs, potatoes, cheese, spinach, and chives. Your regular old bacon, egg, and cheese could never. For those of you in the sweet tooth club, though, you’ll probably be more inclined to order the Vanilla Bean Custard Danish, which is also only sticking around for the winter menu.
But that’s not all — Jan. 3 marks more than just the launch of the winter menu in Starbucks stores. It’s also the first day that Starbucks’ BYOC (Bring Your Own Cup) deal expands beyond ordering in-store to ordering in the drive-thru or on the app. This makes them the first national coffee retailer to accept reusable cups for drive-thru and mobile orders, and means that Starbucks Rewards members have even more opportunities to score 25 Stars and a $0.10 personal cup discount. This news, conveniently, comes hand-in-hand with the reveal of Starbucks’ new 2024 drinkware, which includes cold cups and tumblers in new colors and designs, from floral to periwinkle to lime green. (And of course, their Winter Pink Stanley Cup.)
Basically, whether you try the Iced Shaken Hazelnut Oatmilk Espresso or the Vanilla Bean Custard Danish, it’s clear that Starbucks is going all-out for the start of 2024 — and so should you.
