Time Saving Tips for the Busy Collegiette

The Glam Network recently hosted a live chat devoted to time saving tips. We collegiettes™ have such busy schedules, it can be hard to stay on top of everything we need to get done.

Here are some helpful tips to help you consolidate your time and your to-do list!

Helpful hints for bloggers:

  •   “I like to automate what I can. My blog automatically updates into Facebook and Twitter. HUGE time saver.”
  •  “Plan during the holidays for guest posts from other writers. It helps drive traffic to both blogs and you have to contribute less content to your site. It’s a win-win.”
  •  “Write/type your blog inspiration the moment it comes to you! Most of my posts are composed in transit, on my phone.”
  •  “I schedule out Tweets and Facebook posts in Buffer to keep my accounts active while I’m working during the day.”

Hints for collegiettes™ on the go:

  •   “I keep 3X5 notecards in my car console and use them to jot down ideas, shopping lists, etc. when I’m waiting in traffic.”
  •  “I always prep my gym bag with locker room sundries and a change of clothes in case I decide to go out after my workout.”
  •  “I pack my lunch the night before to save time in the morning.”
  •   “A simple thing I do is organize my work bag and clothes the night before. This saves me a lot of time in the morning when I’m still sleepy.”
  •   “I check and reply to my e-mails on the train. That way, I’m not just sitting idle while getting to/from work!”

Time-saving beauty tips:

  •    “A great time saving tip I use for my hair is braid when wet and air dry for a flawless, beachy look!”
  •   “One time saving tip I try to utilize is to blow dry my hair at night and style in the morning to cut down on the time it takes to go through the entire process.”
  •   “ I give myself a mani/pedi while I watch my favorite TV shows”
  •   “Beauty multitasking! From 2-in-1 tinted moisturizers with SPF, to 3-in-1 cheek+lip+eye colors, make your products work for you.”
  •   “Skip the occasional blowout-dry shampoo is a lifesaver!”
  • “Goodies to bring you from Day to Night: extra earrings, pumps, and some eyeliner!”
  • “Wear versatile pieces that can be easily converted from a daytime look to a nighttime look.”
  • “Keep a mini makeup bag on hand.” (Think Sephora samples, collegiettes™!)
  • “To save time and stay stylish, stick with a monochromatic color palette and add trendy pieces and color with accessories: scarves, chunky rings and bracelets>”

Holiday shopping and travel tips:

  •   “Buy everything online! Take advantage of free shipping and free returns.”
  •  “Use sites that aggregate information (shopstyle/Kayak) to save time on shopping and travel.”
  •  “Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping!”
  •  “I buy the same gift for several people-also keep a bunch of unisex gifts at home for last minute giving.”
  •  “To save time, I stopped sending Christmas cards. It’s faster and cheaper to make quick phone calls or send fun e-mails.”
  • “Take one day to go to a larger shopping mall that may be farther away to eliminate all of your Christmas list in one shot, as opposed to going back and forth to whatever is closest to you.”
  • “E-gift cards are easier to buy/send then picking up an actual gift card.”

Time saving apps:

  •   “I use a couple of apps to save time for jotting notes and saving ideas on the fly: Evernote and Thinking Space.”
  •  These 5 free Thanksgiving iPhone apps (http://blog.ziplist.com/5-free-thanksgiving-iphone-apps/) will ensure a stress free holiday!
  •  “I’ve been trying this product SaneBox which routes your unimportant e-mails to a separate folder and helps you train your inbox to create those routing rules.”

Organize, Organize, Organize!

  • “ So many of us subscribe to a billion daily deal sites. Use those e-mail filters to skip the inbox!”
  •  “Set a schedule. It’s so easy to spend the whole day in front of the computer checking e-mails. Decide which hours to check e-mails and leave it at that.”
  •  “Don’t waste time searching around for your keys or wallet. Make a home for everything and prevent simple misplacing.”
  •  “Keep Post-it notes with tasks to accomplish. As you complete each one, throw a note away.”
  • “Set a timer and work against the clock. You get more done.”
  • “MAC users-utilize the multiple desktop feature to separate business and work documents from your personal/fun apps.”

These are just some of the awesome tips that HC acquired throughout the chat. Check here to view the whole discussion and read some more tips!
