3 Ways to Make Birthdays Even More Special

If you’re like me, you pride yourself on being an expert at making friends’ and family’s birthdays unique. But, it can be hard to think of new ways to make celebrations different each year. Luckily, Carli and Kate are sharing three easy (and unique) ideas for making birthdays even more special with a little help from Hallmark.

1. Film a Hallmark Digital Video Greeting.

This is one of my favorite ways to celebrate someone’s birthday. If you’re not familiar with how it works, get ready to have your mind blown at how easy it is. All you have to do is visit the Hallmark Digital Video Greetings website, choose a digital card, upload some of your favorite photos and videos or record a video message, and select the perfect music. Hallmark will do all the work to stitch it together and voila! You have a beautiful, one-of-a-kind digital greeting for your recipient to enjoy over and over again. 

You can send your Digital Video Greeting to your recipient via email or text message. All they have to do is click on the link to watch your creation! From there, they can download it to their devices and even share it on social media.

Here’s a pro-tip from Carli and Kate: Invite a bunch of friends to contribute their own photos and videos so your recipient really feels showered with love. And if you’re hosting a birthday party, gather all of the guests to watch the final product together!

2. Send your long-distance friend a “party in a box.”

Let’s be real—everyone likes to receive fun surprises in the mail, and a party in a box is one of the best things a friend or family member can find at their door. The part I love most about this idea is that you can put it together pretty easily (and cost-efficiently) and customize the box for each person you love. 

Start by grabbing a gift box (bonus points if it has a cute design on it!) and place some tissue paper inside. Then, pick out a few gifts to fill it with. Need some ideas for what to put inside your birthday box? Try sending one filled with birthday party essentials like a confetti popper, balloons, and candles. Or, for the friend who loves low-key festivities, throw in a new nail polish and face mask so they can have a relaxing night of self-celebration.

And of course, no birthday party is complete without a card—so don’t forget to add one to your birthday box!

3. Use birthday cards as place cards for a birthday dinner.

Speaking of birthday cards, did you know that there are a ton of fun ways to use them? Carli and Kate shared an idea that I can’t wait to try: using birthday cards as place cards at a birthday dinner! Just put a blank birthday card on each person’s plate, then have everyone fill theirs out for the guest of honor so they can read them at the end of the night. 

If you want to add a little twist to the typical birthday card, give your guests a prompt! You could ask them to fill the card out with a favorite memory of the person you’re celebrating or their favorite thing about the guest of honor! 

There’s no wrong way to celebrate someone on their birthday, but as we all know, birthdays are more fun when they feel personal and unique. With these three tips, you can easily make the people in your life feel extra special—and have a ton of fun along the way!
