The holiday season means it’s socially acceptable to ask your parents to reward you for your hard work and “nice” behavior over this past year. But what exactly are you asking for? We surveyed over 325 women age 18-24 to find out what topped holiday wishlists this year.
Naturally the number one spot is perennial favorite clothing. What college student can ever have too much of that? The number two spot is another favorite that any one of us could use more of: cash. Sure it doesn’t leave much room for creativity, but it will keep us in pizza, coffee and probably clothes for at least the beginning of second semester.
Tied for third were gift cards (just like cash but with restrictions) and makeup/beauty products. The wishlists this year were full of things that you can never max out of.
Other popular picks this year were shoes, trips and travel, jewelry and workout clothes. Though there is no denying material possessions were high, books were another very popular request. See, we do have our priorities straight!
Less popular this year were tech-y gifts. While we’d all probably take a new phone, computer or tablet (which came in last), we can do without them. Quite a change from just a few years ago when everyone just had to have a tablet.
With less than a week left for people to shop for you, we can only hope they’re hitting the mall to fill your closets and the bank to fill your wallets — just like you asked for!
