The best season of the year is undoubtedly pumpkin spice season. Most people seem to think that the best way to relish in pumpkin spice season is by drinking lattes, but have you ever tried pumpkin spice in your food?!It may sound a bit odd to pumpkin spice latte purists, but I assure you that this is the best way to consume pumpkin spice – especially when paired with a glass of your fave wine!

According to Wine educator Cassandra Rosen, from Tussock Jumper Wines, harvest wines and wines with more residual sugar pair perfectly with pumpkin spice. The sweet flavors in the five wines listed befow blend deliciously with the spices that make up this infamous flavor, and they’ve been paired up with what are guaranteed to be your new fave recipes of the season. Girls night, anyone?

Chardonnay — Pumpkin Pie

Nothing screams fall — or more importantly, pumpkin spice season — quite like a good old fashioned pumpkin pie. Pumpkin pies are creamy, chock full of spices, and elevate any dinner party. I love this pumpkin pie recipe from Allrecipes, because it’s really traditional and even easier to follow.

This fall staple pairs perfectly with a nice glass of Chardonnay, as the floral and slight hazelnut tastes of a Chardonnay can bring out the warm cinnamon flavors in a pumpkin pie. If you’re looking for your next big bake, or just looking to impress your friends at dinner, this is the right choice for you.

For this pie, we recommend this Tussock Jumper 2018 Chardonnay, which retails for $12.09 and is available for delivery through Drizly!

Chenin Blanc — Pumpkin Spice Dip

Chenin Blanc is a crisp wine, with hints of tropical flavors like pineapple and peach. It’s delicious, refreshing taste pairs really well with this creamy Pumpkin Pie Dip from Taste of Home, because in food, opposites really do attract. This dip just melts in your mouth, and matching it with a Chenin Blanc is the best way to hang out with the girls or come prepared for any potluck.

For this dip, we recommend this Tussock Jumper 2020 Chenin Blanc, which retails for $12.04 and is available for delivery through Drizly!

Moscato — Frosted Pumpkin Spice Cookies

These Cinnamon Cream Cheese Pumpkin Spice Cookies from Two Sisters Crafting are a perfect match with any Moscato. These delectable cookies are sweet and spicy, and work really well with the fruity and sweet tastes of a nice Moscato. Perfect to bring to any dinner party for dessert, or to snack on during a movie night! You probably won’t stop eating them because, they are to-die-for.

For these cookies, we recommend this Tussock Jumper 2019 Moscato, which retails for $10.99 and is available for delivery through Drizly!

Rosé — Pumpkin Chocolate Grilled Cheese

Who said that you can’t drink rosĂ© after Labor Day? In fact, you should! This Pumpkin Chocolate Grilled Cheese with brie from Two Peas and Their Pod is more sophisticated than any other grilled cheese you’ve ever tasted, and pairs magnificently with a fizzy rosĂ©. The floral and citrus flavors of rosĂ© blend with the savory and the sweet flavors in this grilled cheese. You’re really able to taste each flavor when you drink rosĂ© with a pumpkin chocolate grilled cheese, and I bet you’ll never be able to go back to a standard grilled cheese again.

For this grilled cheese, we recommend this Tussock Jumper 2019 Moscato Rosé, which retails for $10.97 and is available for delivery through Drizly!

Riesling — Pumpkin Soup

This creamy, savory pumpkin soup from Allrecipes is only amplified by the crisp flavors of a Riesling. The pumpkin, peppercorn and parsley flavors in the soup match terrifically with the strong grape, apple, melon, and lemon tastes in a Riesling. Even if you’re not a soup person, you’ll want to eat this pumpkin cream soup for every meal. This pairing is so versatile, it’s perfect for any rainy day inside, a Friday night dinner with friends and family, or even your Thanksgiving meal!

For this soup, we recommend this Tussock Jumper 2019 Riesling, which retails for $11.99 and is available for delivery through Drizly!

As a lover of pumpkin spice and a lover of wine, these combinations are the best of both worlds. Pumpkin spice lattes will hopefully never go out of style, but sometimes it’s great to shake up your daily pumpkin spice consumption. Whether it’s your main course, appetizer or dessert, pumpkin is a flavor that you can eat during any part of the meal. I wouldn’t complain if my entire meal had pumpkin in it, tbh. Take your girls night or dinner one step up with some of these recipes and wines and trust me, you’ll want it to be pumpkin spice season all year round.
