Real Live College Guy Andy: What Guys Think Of Your Sexy Halloween Costumes

Do you ever find yourself shrugging your shoulders and settling on the “boys will be boys” conclusion? Real Live College Guy Andy is here to show you that mature men do (in fact) exist. He has an uncanny ability to sort out the good guys from the bad apples and is here to bring you the best in college love advice.

“It is a wonderful time of year,” says Stefan from San Jose State. “Halloween is a girl’s excuse to dress as sl*tty as possible.”

If you ask guys on college campuses around the country, you will get similar thoughts in regards to Halloween costumes. It’s the main reason why October 31 is one of the most anticipated holidays among us college guys and you’ll often hear them say that Halloween is “the one night each year that even the nice girls can dress as a sl*t and get away with it.”

However, is this really true? Do guys simply want a girl to wear virtually no clothing and show as much cleavage as possible? It turns out, that isn’t necessarily the case. Plenty of college guys still want their ladies to have some class, even on Halloween.

Zack from San Francisco State says there is such a thing as too “sl*tty” on Halloween. “A turn-off on Halloween is when a girl dresses like she is easy to get. Wearing a skirt that is way too short with her boobs hanging out. There is nothing worse than a girl making it obvious she is easy. Guys love a challenge.”

While neither Zack nor yours truly can speak for all college guys, it’s true that we “love a challenge.” While we will almost always be annoyed by girls failing to make up their minds and then giving off mixed signals, there is still something to you ladies playing hard to get. We don’t need to see “the goods” out in the open at a party. A lot of guys are actually turned on by outfits that leave more to the imagination. Francis from Loyola New Orleans, remembers one Halloween when a girl in a flight attendant costume caught his eye. He says that she “looked sexy but didn’t show too much.”

Ladies, bigger does not necessarily mean better! And less doesn’t necessarily mean more. Bigger boobs aren’t always better than smaller ones and less clothing doesn’t always gain the (positive) attention you seek. Wearing something “sl*tty” just for the sake of it can turn guys off just as much as it can turn them on.

“In my personal opinion girls get a little too wild on Halloween,” Marius from Penn State, says. “Halloween has gotten a new stigma of being a day where it’s ‘okay’ for girls to dress in the smallest amount of clothing possible. I think that this however seems just demeaning. It’s classy to wear a good costume, but it’s still sl*tty to wear simple undergarments.”

Remember ladies, there are guys out there who are looking for more than just a hook-up, even on Halloween. Many of them are even looking to make an actual connection. Alexei, a recent grad from UC Santa Barbara, has seen it all when it comes to Halloween.

“I enjoy girls who are creative with their costume,” he says. “It doesn’t have to be elaborate or homemade, but if it makes me laugh, or I have to think about it for a while until she explains it to me, then it’s money.”

Moral of the story? Not all guys are looking to hook up with a girl in just any old “sl*tty” costume.

The key is to put some time and effort into your costumes! Make your costume worthy of conversation! Or if you want to go with a classic costume, there are some good ones!

Tight leather outfits like a cat-woman costume that don’t show off much or any skin at all can be just as sexy and attractive to guys as wearing that corset that pushes up your boobs. I’m not sure about you, but I’ve never heard of a girl dressed as Catwoman getting called a “sl*t.” Just some food for thought. Have a Happy Halloween!

San Francisco

Andrew is a rising senior at San Francisco State University majoring in broadcast journalism. While he hopes to some day work in the sports media industry, becoming a professional columnist for a women's magazine is also on his radar. While in college Andrew has contributed sports columns to such sites like Foxsports.com, Insidehockey.com, and Bleacherreport.com. But don't be fooled, he isn't just your typical jock, after all he is willing to admit he actually loves chick flicks like "27 Dresses" "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton" and "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days". He also enjoys shows like "The OC", "One Tree Hill", "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" and "Teen Wolf" and wonders aloud why more college men don't open up about their love for these types of programs.
