Anti-Kavanaugh protesters met Sen. Ted Cruz at Fiola, a restaurant near the Capitol Building, during dinner with his wife demanding answers about his view on Kavanuagh. According to CNN, the couple decided to leave as the harassment intensified.
Videos of incident surfaced on left-wing Twitter. In the video reviewed by CNN, a woman can be heard saying to Cruz, “I’m a constituent. Love to know what your vote is going to be tonight. I know that you’re very close friends with Mr. Kavanaugh. And do you believe survivors, sir?” The protesters followed Cruz to his table chanting “We believe survivors!” until the couple left the restaurant. Videos show the crowds cheering as Cruz left.

Rep. Maxine Waters encouraged constituents to confront their representatives in public spaces back in June, according to CNN, people have taken that advice seriously. Sen. Mitch McConnell and White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders have both left or been kicked out of restaurants this year.
Cruz’s opponent in this year’s heated Senate race in Texas, Beto O’Rourke, took to Twitter in defense of the incumbent. O’Rourke called for respect for Cruz and his wife.

During a recent debate with O’Rourke, Cruz commented on Ford’s allegations against Kavanaugh and their affect on the nomination process. According to The New York Times, Cruz said that Ford’s allegations “deserve to be treated with respect” and that they “absolutely” could lead to opposition against Kavanaugh’s confirmation.
