Michelle Obama Gave A First Peek At The Obama Presidential Center & I’m Only Crying a Little

Michelle and Barack Obama were the mom and dad the United States needed. They loved us, we loved them and some major changes came from their time in the White House. Needless to say, they left a huge mark on our hearts and on our country’s history — which is why the Obama Presidential Center is so momentous.

Michelle gave us a sneak peak on Instagram detailing some of the things that will be at the center and why it was important to have it in the south side of Chicago.

 

From the very beginning, @BarackObama and I knew the Obama Presidential Center had to be on the South Side. It’s where we met and where our girls were born. It’s home. We’ve been designing the Center as a place that inspires young people and gives them the tools they need to find their voices, then go out and change the world. It will be a place to learn, connect, and have some fun. The South Side will finally have a sledding hill, a vegetable garden like the one we had at the White House, and other attractions for Chicagoans and visitors from around the world to enjoy. This is so heartfelt and genuine. Including things like a garden similar to the one at the white house and making it accessible to everyone is totally something the Obama’s would do, in addition to putting it in a place so close to their hearts.

 

As soon as it opens, we’re planning our visit!
