Twitter Is Adding Stickers You Can Put on Your Pictures

Already a hit feature on both Snapchat and Facebook, stickers are one of social media’s latest trends. I mean, who wouldn’t want to add a smiling sun to their picture or a crown to their #selfie? Now, Twitter is joining in on the fun!

Twitter stickers are emojis that you can place on top of a photo, according to Wired.  There’s crowns, masks, sunglasses, and other favorite stickers you can find on other platforms. The new feature includes a standard set of stickers, as well as special event stickers.

Stickers have become a worldwide phenomenon for social media. According to Quartz, the messaging app Line sold $268 million in stickers last year alone. Adding “stickers” could help Twitter cash in on another source of revenue as the company fights for its user base to grow.

The stickers will work pretty much the same as hashtags. All you need to do is to tap the sticker in a picture to see other Tweeters who used the same one recently. The stickers will be especially useful during large events, where the “special event” sticker will serve as the ubiquitous hashtag for the occassion. Check out how they work below!
