The fashion month of September may seem like a distant memory, but there’s no reason for tears as it has given us months’ worth of wardrobe inspiration. The catwalks may have introduced us to hits for the upcoming season, but it’s the outfits spotted in the streets of the fashion capitals that are going to inspire what’s worn in the upcoming months.
New York
Being the first in order, New York Fashion Week has secured itself a spot where summer meets autumn and the days are still relatively warm. That however doesn’t mean that the following outfits can‘t inspire your autumn and winter wardrobe!
Sleek and fitted is in and suits are leaving the offices and coming out to shine in the streets. Since this season is all about the waist, the best way of accentuating it have to be high waisted trousers, closely followed by fitted blazers, or even waistcoats!
Primrose yellow has been crowned The colour of Spring/Summer’16, but this by no means suggests that we can’t or shouldn’t brighten gloomy autumn days with some wellworn yellow. Jumpers, t-shirts, or shoes even! The creativity has no limits.
London
Coming second, London Fashion Week never fails to live up to the expectations and bring something new, something classic, and everything trendy.
Statring of with a personal favourite – a perfect mofel off-duty look rocked by none else than the up-and-coming Bella Hadid. There’s something incredibly edgy yet feminine about pairing band (or in this case motocycle-brand) t-shirts with a smart leather skirt. Comfortable trainers are just the cherry on top of this perfectly wearable outfit.
As the days get colder, burgundy somehow always happens to pour out of our glasses and into our wardrobes (preferably only figuratively). Whether it’s accessories, shoes, clothes, or even makeup, there’s somthing about the colour which makes it so fitting for the A/W season.
In terms of accessories, Burberry has had a major say in the comeback of the backpack, and no one is complaining! Admittedly, there are few things more adored than utilitarian fashion trends.
Milan
Down in Italy, things always seem to get more brave and colourful and this year’s fashion week has been no exception. Both trends that have caught my eye are in this case presented by the same person, possibly my favourite new fashion personality – Korean model Irene Kim.
Patchwork suede skirts have been a well-loved trend recently, but what about jackets? Unicolour suede jackets are undeniably a wardrobe classic, but this funky twist can turn a staple into a perfect statement piece.
All of us have that one dress we only get to wear twice a year at best, spending more time longingly gazing at it hanging in our wardrobes. So-called “dressed down Prada” brought to you by this year’s Milan Fashion Week might change the game, as it shows how a luxurious dress can be turned much more casual by being worn over a simple t-shirt, or under a warm knit jumper during the winter days.
Paris
Concluding the fashion month, Paris never fails to deliver. The desirable Parisian chic steps up its game and creates a true fashion finale.
With that being said, it’s not all about the elegance these days. Frayed denim and patchy leather jackets are taking the fashion scene by storm and are taking us back to the grungy 90s.
The beautiful thing about fashion is its diversity, and where some live in the 90s, the others are reminiscing about the wide and flowy clothing of the 70s. As it is, wide leg trousers are here to stay, pushing the popular skinnies to the back of the shelf.
