This week Her Campus grabbed a few minutes of time with our favourite law and lacrosse loving mountain bike enthusiast to chat studying, Jennifer Lawrence and things boys don’t understand about the opposite sex…
HC: So Fergus, what made you want to study law and move to Aberdeen? Do you think you made the right decision?
FM: I wanted to study law from a very young age, so when I got my results it seemed natural. I chose Aberdeen for a few reasons. The open day was a real enticer and the law school has a great reputation. Coming to Aberdeen is the best decision I have ever made! It’s far enough from home that I have become independent and learned to stand on my own two feet yet close enough that I am able to go home for the weekend.
Â
HC: Now we’ve got the basics out the way we want to get to know you a little better! How do you think your friends would describe you? Appropriate answers only please!
FM: Hard working, spontaneous and a good laugh… I’d like to think!
Â
HC: I think we’d agree with that description! So how do you spend your time when you don’t have your head in the books?
FM: When I’m not on two feet, I’m on two wheels. My bike is my prized possession and swallows a majority of my disposable income (gold-diggers need not apply). I played rugby for Aberdeen Grammar for 2 years before injury forced me to stop. I now play both lacrosse and squash. I like to look after myself and stay fit so ASV is like a second home!
Â
HC: Wowee, don’t think we could keep up! We’ve a feeling we might know your answer but what is your favourite place in Aberdeen to go that some people may not know about?
FM: I love getting out into the hills to go walking or cycling so Scolty Hill at Banchory would be somewhere I would recommend.
Â
HC: So now onto the juicy questions, who is your celebrity crush and why do they tickle your fancy?
FM:  Jennifer Lawrence, I know its cliché but she is gorgeous.
Â
HC: And if you can’t get Jennifer Lawrence, what do you look for in a girl?
FM: A good sense of humour and intelligence. It is also important for me that she looks after herself too!
Â
HC: Great qualities! Could bag yourself one of our HC girls Fergus! Crucial question though, if you were to organise a perfect date for someone what would it be?
FM:  I think the Tippling House is pretty romantic so I’d say it’s a safe bet for a date!
Â
HC: And if you were to be taken on your dream date would it be something similar or completely different?
FM: It would be very different, I love getting out into the fresh air so a long walk would be ideal.
Â
HC: We’re getting the feeling you’re a bit of a country boy at heart! Now what are your views on Tinder and other dating apps?
FM:  I should probably confess, I do have tinder and I only swipe one way…
Â
HC: Haha we shall not ask which way! What is the one thing you find most confusing about the opposite sex or is there one thing you’d like to know about them?
FM:  Bra sizes. I don’t understand the relationship between numbers and letters. Although to be fair I don’t think its something I will ever understand!
Â
HC: Don’t even think us girls understand them! So a bit of a silly question now. They say women are from Venus and men are from Mars: if you could live on any planet what would it be and why?
FM: Planet of the apes, I might fit in!
Â
HC: Now onto some thoughts for the future. Do you think relationships at university are harder or easier due to the student lifestyle?
FM: I would say it’s far easier to meet girls although relationships themselves are more difficult to sustain, due to the sometimes hectic workload, with both studies and sports taking up lots of time.
Â
HC: We totally agree. University is a big upheaval for lots of people, so do you think you’ve changed as a person over the course of university?
FM: I think I have matured over the course of the past two and a half years, as I’m now more confident and willing to put myself out there (at the slight cost of three inches of hairline!)
Â
HC: You are too harsh on yourself! Finally, our favourite nosy question: where do you see yourself in five years time?
FM:Â Hopefully working in a job I enjoy and hopefully not being single!Â
