Campus Style Blog – Miss Jenny Holt

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Aberdeen chapter.

This Edinburgh born beauty was caught red-handed rocking the geek chic look as she made her way into the library to pore over her books this week. Jenny Holt, a history and IR student, has got it sussed with this cute and fresh Uni day outfit. The clean-cut camel coat is the perfect cover up for a sunny Scottish morning. Layered over a beautiful white silk shirt paired with dark denim skinnies and she has created the perfect combo for a day of working hard but looking better.

We all know what it’s like to be carrying around what feels like half the heavy demand section of the library in our handbags but Jenny has it sussed with this bang on trend brown leather slouch bag. It is the perfect blend of practical and stylish putting my big backpack to shame!

Jenny is a self-confessed fashion addict who really makes an effort to feel good in what she wears. Like most of us she can’t get enough of Topshop, but for special and individual find she heads back to her native Edinburgh and heads to Armstrong’s- A well established vintage emporium in Edinburgh. Armstrong’s is the place to go for statement pieces, denim jackets, sequined dresses and certainly something no one else has. It is definitely worth the trip to Edinburgh for but if you can’t quite justify the train ride down, our very own Aberdream houses some vintage shops that are totally worth checking out for that quirky one off piece. The Closet, although a little pricey, has a huge section dedicated to beautiful furs, faux and real, that will protect you from even the greyest of Aberdeen days. Retrospect is a lot lighter on the purse strings and is pretty fantastic for awesome clutch bags. It has all the colour combinations of plaid and flannel shirts you could ever ask for. You can even help yourself to some free costume jewelry at the checkout. I couldn’t help but grab a hologram dolphin necklace; a money can’t buy one off!

Jenny’s chosen pop of colour comes from her rosy red Toms. Toms is a for-profit company, every time a stylish somebody like Jenny buys a pair of shoes, a pair of shoes are given to an impoverished child somewhere in the world. They also make seriously cool sunnies and you can’t feel guilty for treating yourself as money from every pair bought is used to save or restore the eyesight of people in developing countries.

All in all Jenny’s classy and collected look is the perfect transitional outfit from winter into spring. Clearly it’s not just history books she’s been reading, her commitment to Vogue is clear. She isn’t wearing those glasses for nothing. This girl knows what’s up on the fashion front.

Simple cuts + muted tones+ a pop of colour = perfect fashion maths
