HCAU: HiĀ Kerrie! We want to know all about your university experiences, some of your likes and dislikes, and just generally more about you as a person! How are you feeling?Ā Ā

I am feeling really excited to get back to work and start the new term!Ā  Ā

HCAU: Iā€™m glad to hear that, letā€™s jump right in and get started! What made you want to join HCAU?Ā
Ā

I wanted to join HCAU because it is a welcoming and supportive group that covers such a wide range of topics with their articles. Being surrounded by strong women in HCAU fosters the best environment for open discussions about issues we all face. However, I also wanted to improve my own personal literacy skills and engage with others on campus in a fun way via the magazine and exciting social events.Ā Ā

HCAU: What about being an editor? What made you decide to go for this role? Any exciting plans up your sleeve?Ā
Ā

I went for this role as I believe that it best suits my skill set as I study English. I have an eagle eye for any typographical errors – with a little help from my friend, ā€˜spellcheckā€™. This role is a great way to immerse myself in the articles and get involved in helping them being published. Being an editor is exciting and I look forward to having responsibility over ensuring the articles best reflect the topic and the writer.Ā Ā

HCAU: We canā€™t wait! We hope youā€™ve been enjoying your summer, have you been up to anything interesting?Ā
Ā

This summer I have mostly been busy spending time with friends and family. My favourite thing is just sitting in the park having a picnic. Aberdeen weather does not often allow for this to take place so I may have only had 3 picnics this summer, but thatā€™s better than nothing!Ā Ā

HCAU: All good things must come to an end, and the end of summer starts with going back to university. Any advice for newcomers coming to Aberdeen University?Ā
Ā

My advice to any new students would be to not put too much pressure on yourself! There is often a lot of pressure to gain the highest grades, or go out every night. The adjustment of starting university is extremely overwhelming so have patience with yourself, things will always work out.Ā Ā

HCAU: Weā€™ve got a few quick-fire questions for you; we hope you are ready!Ā

Dinner ORĀ Ā Drinks?Ā Ā

Dinner always, Iā€™m a true foodie at heart!Ā

Favourite Movie?Ā Ā

My answer toĀ this changesĀ regularly, but currently I would say ā€˜How to lose a guy in 10Ā daysā€™.Ā Ā

Main meal OR Dessert?Ā Ā

Main meal. And dessert. Both. What about starters though? Those are underrated.Ā Ā

Favourite Aberdeen night out?Ā Ā

Iā€™m not overly keen on clubbing so a good Aberdeen night out for me is getting drinks somewhere like Soul Bar or Revolution. All the classics.Ā Ā
