The Queen recently turned 90 years old, and she is also the longest-reigning British monarch EVER, after beating her great great grandmother Queen Victoria last year. Now, we at Her Campus Aberdeen thought we would tie in the Queen’s birthday celebrations with the beginning of spring and provide you with some style impulses inspired by Her Majesty herself. Â
Â
Â
First of all, the Queen loves her pastels. She’s always decked out in pastel suits with a matching hat and handbag. As this might be a bit much for day to day for us plebeians, why not draw your inspiration from the Queen and invest in a pastel coloured handbag or jacket? As for accessories, Queen Lizzy can have her choice pick of the crown jewels whenever she likes, but I hear they’re very well protected so us mere mortals must do with inserting some royal glamour into our lives in the shape of a (faux) diamond headband or crown shaped earrings. The Queen started her reign in 1952, so why not pay homage to this decade with some vintage sunglasses?Â
Â
Â
It is rumoured that Elizabeth’s favourite colour of nail varnish is Essie’s Ballet Slippers. This can be picked up from Boots for under a tenner and makes it both easy and cheap to channel the Queen’s style in your everyday life. Elizabeth was much bolder with her lipstick at the start of her reign, so why not mimic her with MAC’s cult classic Ruby Woo, in the appropriately named retro matte formula? Â
Finally, top it all off by getting yourself a phone case decorated with tiny corgis, because if there’s one thing we share with the Queen, it is our love of small dogs with big ears. Â
Â
Â
Hopefully this has given you some inspiration for your spring wardrobe! And happy birthdayÂ
Queen Liz! HCXO <3Â Â
