Plus size women often suffer some of the worst fashion options around – not all of us want to dress like a 2012 office worker or live-in cold shoulder tops! This lack of nice, affordable clothing is even more apparent when specifically looking at lingerie, so I have compiled a list of my favourite brands that cater for plus size women.
Sprouting from the brain of the Icon that is Rihanna, since 2017 Savage x Fenty have been providing people of all colours and sizes an opportunity to buy and wear items that make them feel good. While the more bright and colourful sets are often the ones advertised, Savage X also provides a healthy amount of ‘basics’ that are reasonably priced.
While your package might take a little longer to ship thanks to the company being based in America, JBC provides stunning pieces for all body types. Their website is wholly inclusive, with people of all sizes being represented on their website, with many of their lingerie sets being worn by both straight and plus size models. At the time of writing, the pastel collections are incredibly pretty, although pricey, and they also have some more simpler styles perfect for more chilled out cosy days.
This website hosts several different brands, as well as their own stock, and I would suggest that if you are into more traditional lingerie, this is for you! Think of darker jewel tones, satin, lace and sheer netting. The items themselves are priced pretty well, and I have personally noticed there is always some kind of sale on, where you could find a great deal if you look hard enough.
This London-based company is another more traditional brand, Figleaves London are known for their flashy colours, especially on their swimwear, with the motto being ‘Be bold and be beautiful.’ However, their underwear is excellent for plus size individuals as they carry a plethora of bigger sizes, and the styles themselves are quite complimentary to the plus size body. This brand is slightly more expensive than others on this list, especially as there are seemingly less sale items on the website, however the items are of excellent quality; so, I believe the extra few pounds are worth it!
While not the most ethical brand (at all), I appreciate not everyone can afford ethically made or sustainable clothes. But everyone deserves nice, well-fitting clothes. As such, ASOS makes this list. Their curve range is extensive and they do carry many plus size brands, so there is bound to be a style that fits perfectly with your body and lifestyle.
If you want to feel slightly better about using a company such as ASOS, they do carry lingerie and more basic pieces of underwear that are made from recycled material.
