Life as a college student is exhilarating anywhere, but imagine how it would be if you lived in one of the fashion capitals of the world! In honor of the upcoming international fashion weeks, we took a look at college life in New York, London, Paris and Milan.
1. New York
Life in New York is fast-paced and exhilarating. While studying here, students can take advantage of the vast resources right at their fingertips. Help yourself out academically by visiting one of the many museums found in the city, or enjoy the night with a Broadway show. There’s always an adventure to be found in New York City that helps to color college life. Pop up at an impromptu fashion show or seek out an internship at one of the thousands of successful companies with their headquarters in this city. New opportunities arise daily, and if students are quick, it is amazing what they can experience!
2. London
London is an amazing center for cultural exchange. While it may not appear to be as fast-paced as New York at first glance, be careful not to be swept up in the undercurrent. London has a heartbeat of its own, with a powerful theatre scene in the West End. You can be a tourist and visit the London Eye and Big Ben, or fit in with locals in the pub scene. Either way, you’ll learn a lot about yourself navigating London’s streets, which constantly remind you of the history of which you are now a part. You’ll have to work around that infamous London weather, but the life you’ll lead in London is worth running through puddles!
3. Paris
Paris is beautiful. Undoubtedly, one of the most aesthetically pleasing college experiences can be found here. Some of the most beautiful art in the world acts as part of your extended campus. What student wouldn’t be inspired by a trip to the Louvre? Paris has more than its looks, however. Beneath its grandiose exterior lies a city that is quite cozy. You will be able to feel at home, while still enjoying the perks of living in a major city. Paris lacks the rush of London and New York, but not the determination. Try not to get caught up in the beauty of the city and miss the experience.
4. Milan
If you’re looking for a sidewalk runway, you’ll find it in Milan. While the lifestyle follows the sweet Italian style of healthy indulgence, the fashion scene is brutal on the streets. Be ready to attend classes in your most stylish outfits. If you can rise to the fashion challenge, Milan provides a unique atmosphere that will captivate you. Even in this city, the country heart of Italy is never far behind.
Most importantly, many universities in these cities strongly promote study abroad opportunities. Studying abroad is one of the most enlightening experiences a student can have, and all of these cities are worth considering. All are well suited to student lifestyle and travel, having strong public transportation systems. The cost of living is high, but a well-planned budget will take a student a long way. Every location has its unique strengths, but all of them impact vibrant students with thriving energy. Whether you’re walking on a famous runway, or your own personal, educational runway, the fashion capitals will leave you with a strut in your step.
