With all the buzz about the iPhone 6 being released recently, you might be considering an upgrade from your current phone. Whether you’re absolutely sure you want to buy one, or think you might need some help deciding, here are some pros and cons to help you out:
Pros:
1. iOS 8: Sure you can get it on your iPhone 5, BUT will it really be the same on the smaller screen? Probably not. Chances are that when Apple was engineering their newest operating system they made sure it was optimized for their newest device, rather than letting past products hold them back.
2. 128 GB of space: If you’re obsessed with downloading the newest app/Taylor Swift album, and never have enough space on your phone, fear no more! Apple took care of that too. With the newest iPhone, you can store your music, apps, and 43,253 selfies you took without having to worry about running out of space. On the other hand, if you need that much space, you might want to consider a laptop instead.
3. Bigger Screen and Slimmer Casing: The screen on the iPhone 6 is almost a full inch larger than the one on its predecessor, while the body of the phone is 0.03 inches thinner… Which really isn’t THAT much of a difference. A phone can only get so thin until it folds like a piece of paper. Speaking of which…
Cons:
1. The BEND: There have been rumors going around about the iPhone 6 being so flimsy that just sitting with it in your pocket will cause the entire phone to bend. However, Apple seems to be doing their best at dispelling any of these “rumors” by stating that there have only been nine phones reported to have that problem.
2. Price: If you’re trying to decide between the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 6, or if you already the iPhone 5 and you’re looking to upgrade, the price might be the deciding factor for you. According to Apple.com, a contract-free iPhone 5 is $549.00 compared to the iPhone 6 at $649.00. That’s $100.00 more for the same technology, only at a bigger size.
3. Uncomfortable Grip: While the large display may be a plus when viewing photos, the size of the phone makes it more difficult to hold with ease. To those used to holding a phone that is roughly 2.3 inches wide, the larger size will be uncomfortable to handle (especially to those with small hands!)
