On February 2 in Orlando, Florida a man was arrested after allegedly trying to kidnap music icon Lana Del Rey.
The man’s name was Michael Hunt and he had already had a track recording of stalking the singer. The Orlando Police Department shared a twitter post that they had received a tip which seemed like a credible threat. When Hunt was arrested he was charged with aggravated stalking and attempted kidnapping with a weapon.
According to police, Hunt had tickets to Del Rey’s upcoming concert as well as a knife. The Orlando Sentinel reports that Hunt used Facebook to document his seeming obsession with Del Rey, writing frightening comments like “I want to see my queen on Friday and from that day forward our decisions will be as one,” and “I’m going to probably finish out her tour with her, obviously, and dance and talk and figure out what we’re going to do.” The Sentinel also reports that the perpetrator has been previously incarcerated five times over charges including burglary, grand theft auto, grand theft with a firearm, and forgery.
Del Rey has since tweeted a response to let fans know that she is doing ok and plans to continue her future tour performances. “Hey kiddos. I’m doing fine thanks for the messages. And tomorrow we’ll be in Hotlanta can’t wait to see everyone. Yachty that means u.”
