Facebook has become one of the most used websites since 2004. It has grown far beyond its original use though. The tragic event that took place on the evening of Easter Sunday brought light to how out of control Facebook has gotten. This site was by no means created to enable people to post live stream videos of them shooting innocent people on the streets. The use of Facebook has gotten so out of hand that it seems like most users have forgotten what they are and are not supposed to use it for. Maybe we need a reminder of what we should and should not post.Â
Facebook was originally supposed to be used by high school and college graduates as a way to keep in touch with one another; however it has become so easy to create new accounts that middle school students have begun to use it. Some people have even made accounts for their pets.

While many teenagers and college kids remember that future employers will look at social media accounts, there are many more that apparently forget this. Maybe they just simply do not care, but in retrospect, the indifferent “I couldn’t care less” attitude will not be helpful for the rest of life. So here’s some reminders of what you should and shouldn’t post on your Facebook account.
Â
DO: Post accomplishments, such as making honor roll or getting a new job.
Â
Being proud of this doesn’t make you obnoxious; it just makes you more appropriate.
DON’T: Post the empty bottle of vodka you finished the night before.
No matter how proud you are of yourself for drinking that much, your future boss does not care.
Â
DO: Post nice pictures with your boyfriend before a school formal.
There is nothing wrong with showing that you are happily in a relationship.
DON’T: Post pictures making out with your boyfriend.
Nobody wants to see that in general, especially not your relatives that are your Facebook friends.
Â
DO: Post pictures with your friends at college.
You made friends at school, go you!
DON’T: Post pictures of you and your friends at parties.
Underage drinking, or sloppy binge drinking in general, is never a good look.
Â
DO: Update statuses with how you’re feeling or what you’re up to.
Your Facebook friends are still your friends, of course.
DON’T: Update statuses with strong opinions practically yelling at anyone who does not agree with you.
There’s a difference between having pride in your political beliefs and simply being obnoxiously rude.
Â
Facebook is such a wonderful way to keep in touch with friends from high school and family living far away; however, it has become a place for inappropriate venting and bad behavior posts. Let’s keep it clean, and remember: always classy, never trashy.
