Alright my 90s babies, where are you at on this one? MTV has announced the revival of Total Request Live (TRL)! I can almost hear The Backstreet Boys and TLC in the distance. Ah, the glory days. The 1998-2008 show will be coming back on October 2. Sadly, our beloved host Carson Daly will not be returning to the mic *cries into my *NSYNC pillow case*. TRL will be hosted by Amy Pham, D.C. Young Fly, Erik Zachary, Lawrence K. Jackson, and Tamara Dhia. Hopefully this TRL will have the same effect on this new generation as it did for ours!
MTV announced today that premiere guests on the reboot will be Ed Sheeran and Atlanta hip-hop trio Migos.Â
MTV as a network has significant goals in mind in order to capture its young audience. According to a press release, the show “will integrate linear, social and digital elements and bring teen passion points to life, while continuing to incorporate audience requests.” Clips from the main show will be distributed to social media, supplemented by original digital segments, short-form social videos and blog posts.Â
