As the semester comes to a close, you have probably learned the basic tips and tricks to surviving exam time as a college student. Even if you are a freshman, you have already made it through one finals week and (hopefully) made it through just fine. You don’t need me to tell you to study in intervals and you don’t need me to tell you to not procrastinate.
While you may know how to prepare somewhat for finals week at The University of Alabama, there may be many campus resources you are not aware of. Here’s a list of extra ways to get through finals week and end the year on a good note!
Rent A Laptop
It’s 6:00 p.m. You have a paper due tomorrow and an exam to study for. Your laptop has been messing up and has decided to die right when you need it the most. While you may get lucky enough to snag a computer at a library, it is often crowded. Hopefully your laptop won’t die on you, but if it does, you can now rent a laptop for up to 72 hours from Gorgas Library. You’re welcome.
Silent Floors
Since libraries on campus can fill up during finals week, the crowded floors may get a little too noisy for you if you need silence in order to concentrate. If this is the case, Bruno and Gorgas libraries both have their top floors designated as silent, meaning that absolutely no talking is allowed. If you need to boost your concentration, going to these floors might help you eliminate distractions.
Extended Hours
Both Gorgas and Rodgers libraries are open for 24 hours a day during finals week. While this is extremely helpful, you may want to switch up your study location in order to keep yourself sane during this busy week. The Ferguson Center has two different areas with couches and comfortable chairs for students to study in and they also will be open until midnight during finals week. The Ferguson Center will also host free coffee for anyone looking to study in a new place and catch up on caffeine
