Gen Z, it’s up to us to make our voices heard and speak up about climate change. Not sure where to begin? Operation Climate is your go-to to learn about climate change and how to take action. The best part? It’s run by college students!
Operation Climate is a 501(3)c nonprofit organization, led and run by current students at Duke University. The organization aims to educate and empower the upcoming generation of climate storytellers and changemakers through its social media, podcast, and newsletter. Operation Climate uses its Instagram and YouTube channel to educate youth about environmental issues in an easy-to understand and aesthetically pleasing way. The podcast, which is available on Spotify and Apple podcast, breaks down environmental issues with climate activists, scientists, scholars, and business leaders. Additionally, the organization offers an internship program for high school students to learn about climate change and content creation.
Operation Climate makes learning about climate change cool and empowers Gen Z to become climate activists and creatives. The organization, despite being made up of busy college students, constantly releases content and shares resources to engage students, but they aren’t stopping there!
Operation Climate is hosting a “Cool Off with Operation Climate” event, which is a split-the-pot raffle and social media content competition from April 9-16. To enter, all you have to do is follow the Instagram, subscribe to the podcast, and donate at least a $1. Additionally, they are highlighting content submissions on Instagram to encourage outdoor recreation and climate change education enthusiasts to submit how they stay “cool” in the summer heat. At the end of the week-long competition, the randomly selected winner will win ½ of the money raised during the event, with the remaining proceeds benefiting Operation Climate. Today is the final day to enter the competition, so head over to the Operation Climate Instagram to learn more!
