Maybe you have just ended a relationship or have been out of the game for some time now. Either way, you’re that girl… The single chick. The only one among all of our friends without a date. You are the deemed third- wheel to all events. You are the one who is always the first to run to the dance floor to wave your hand to “Single Ladies”. But under that tough, “I don’t need a man” exterior is a young lady who is lonely and maybe confused about the next steps to take after becoming single.Â
Well, the time has come to give some guidelines for us single ladies:Â
Â
1. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT GO BACK TO YOUR EX!! Â
I know that this is hard to do, but trust me. Your ex is your ex for a reason! Do not go back to him just because you feel alone or because you don’t have anyone else to call baby. GETTING BACK WITH YOUR EX IS NOT WORTH THE DRAMA, HURT, OR FRUSTRATION. Please believe me when I say that there are plenty more fish in the sea! Think about it, why go back to a person who does not care to know that you are a queen? Girl, you’re too wonderful to go back to anyone who does not appreciate you for who you are. #flawless
Â
2. TAKE TIME OUT FOR YOU
You should not use this time to mope around and cry to the heavens about your lonely life. No Ma’am. You need to get it together. You need to use this time to figure out where you are. Some things about you may have changed since your last relationship. You may have been heart- broken. You may have been hurt. Your heart needs time to mend itself. Also, you need to take this time to see what makes you laugh and what makes you cry. Do you still like chocolate? David Beckham is still hot, right? Is Jennifer Lawrence still your spirit animal? Figure out who you are and love yourself! There’s nothing wrong with watching Scandal by yourself, or taking yourself out to eat! It’s like you’re getting to know yourself all over again, which, in due time, will help you see what you like in another person. So go shopping! Go buy some sweets! Have a Netflix marathon! Do whatever makes you happy! Treat yo self! #independentÂ
Â
3. GO OUT!Â
Hey, we all need that time with our friends! Whether if you all are going dancing or going to a movie, there is nothing like some girl time. For every occasion, make sure that you are FIERCE. I mean from your head to your toe. You want to break necks (well, not literally) when you walk into a room! Make sure to stay confident in all situations. Being confident can be attractive, ladies. And most importantly, have fun on your night out with your girls! #getitgirl!
Â
4. DON’T PANIC
So you are scrolling on your timeline on Facebook and everything is alright. Then all of a sudden, BOOM! Your ex is in a relationship with someone else. Your heart drops as you see the lovey- dovey pictures and the encouraging comments underneath.DO NOT PANIC. EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY! It’s going to hurt seeing your ex move on, but that should be a sign that you should move on as well. As I have said before, THERE ARE PLENTY MORE FISH IN THE SEA! Don’t let that stop you from being great! I know it’s going to be a hard pill to swallow, but if you truly want to live life, you have to let the past go. So let your ex be all gushy with the next person, you have better things to do with your life! #unbothered
Remember, your ex is your ex for a reason. They teach you lessons that prepares you for the next person that walks into your life. Don’t waste your time on getting your ex back. Spend your time on getting YOU back.
You are beautiful. You are strong. You are loved.Â
