APARTMENTS
#1 Empire Commons
In every apartment, Empire has full sized beds, a washing machine and a dryer, a living room, a kitchen with a refrigerator,a microwave, and a dishwasher. There are four bedrooms, and residents have the choice between two bathrooms or four bathrooms. The bedrooms have a wardrobe closet, dresser, desk and chair. It’s close to the podium and everyone who lives there raves about how good it is to live there.
#2 Liberty Terrace
Liberty is the newest housing on campus. It’s only three years old. There’s a kitchen and a living room/dining area. Each apartment has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The kitchen, much like Empire, has a refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. The bedrooms have a wardrobe closet, a dresser, a desk, and chair, but the bed is twin xl. It’s far from the academic podium, but there is a shuttle that can take you back and forth, and it’s close to Western Avenue.
#3 Freedom Apartments
Freedom is on the bottom of the chain when it comes to the on campus apartments. It’s located near the SUNY Polytechnic Institute Colleges, right off Tricentennial Drive. The majority of the bedrooms are for two people, so if you don’t like having roommates, this is not the place for you. The bedrooms have twin xl beds, a dresser, desk and closet. There is a kitchen with a refrigerator and an oven. It’s not that bad of a walk to the the academic podium when it’s nice out, but for those cold days there is shuttle bus service.
QUADS
#1 Indian Quad
Also known as the freshman quad, Indian has the best suites, the best food in the dining hall and it has a refurbished tower. It also has a decent gym for all the fit people on campus.
#2 Colonial Quad
Colonial is located near Collins Circle. It’s a pretty decent quad except for the fact that some dorms have a communal bathroom. On the bright side however, the dining hall is open for late night food if you’re ever in the mood for that or have late classes.
#3 State Quad
State Quad is located on the other side of Collins Circle. It’s a nice quad during the week, but when the weekend comes it gets loud. You have to remember it is a freshman quad. There are doubles, singles, and triples on this quad.
#4 Alumni Quad
Yes, it’s downtown. Yes it’s far away from the uptown life, but it’s not that bad. Just look on the bright side: You’re closer to the parties and bars downtown, you have a bigger room, and you get a nice scenic route on the way to school.
#5 Dutch Quad
On the bottom of the totem pole is Dutch Quad. It basically has the same layout as the other three quads on the uptown campus. People who live there or who have lived there aren’t satisfied with the food, the small gym, and the fact that because of the construction on the Campus Center they’ve been inconvenienced.
