From celebrity sightings to new advertising campaigns rolled out, a lot happened this week that our readers should have on their radars. Among the list, make sure to pick out your favorite new emoji and pick up a copy of this month’s new Glamour magazine. 

Honey Maid Commercial

Honey Maid released its latest ad that focuses on the “wholesome” American family. The graham cracker company features multiple families including a family with a gay couple and interracial couple. Honey Maid emphasizes that it serves everyone, no matter their race or sexual orientation. Hopefully other companies can catch on and use their advertisements toward meaningful messages that society needs to hear. The advertisement drew up a lot of negative comments but what Honey Maid did with those comments was even better. Days after their initial release of the commercial on YouTube, they released another video titled: “Honey Maid: Love.” Check it out!

U.K Lingerie Curvy Kate Ad

The U.K. Lingerie brand, Curvy Kate, released an advertisement in response to Victoria’s Secret’s “the Perfect Body” ad. Curvy Kate’s advertisement displays women of all different sizes and races in nude lingerie, lined up in a straight line similar to the “the Perfect Body” campaign. Their message is plan and simple: everyone is beautiful. Curvy Kate is also not the first lingerie response to Victoria Secret’s latest campaign. Other lingerie brands like Lane Bryant have response as well using the #ImnotAngel. 

Glamour Cover

Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Obama and Kerry Washington all in one picture? Yes, you heard it right. Glamour just released their May cover that features all three amazing women and more! The power trifecta gathered at The White House to shoot the fashion cover with military families as the main topic of conversation. All three women have strong ties to the military and each spoke passionately during the interview about the need to bring awareness and aid to military women and families.

 

iOS 8.3

The wait is finally over! Apple just released iOS 8.3, which heavily focuses on emoji’s! The main difference? Emoji’s are now diversified with extended family emotions and a variety of skin colors. The emoji keyboard is completely re-designed so be warned when you first try it out! There are over 300 new emoji’s! The new update also includes new languages for Siri to talk such as Russian, Danish, Dutch, Thai, Swedish and more!  

“First Time” Advertisment

The best commercial yet about periods has just been released. Dear Kate, a new apparel company, just launched its first advertisement and it’s something every women can relate to! Their video, First Time, is complied of stories of when women first got their period. It’s funny, awkward and most importantly real. The video relates to Dear Kate’s mission statement as it wants women to “take back their period.” Dear Kate, provides patent-pending fabric that is stain releasing aka the perfect period underwear.
