DIY Face Masks in Your Dorm

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at American chapter.

Take a break from studying and homework, and take some time to just pamper yourself… or your face. Because let’s be real, we all deserve some “me” time now and then. Here are some easy DIY masks that you can create in the comfort of your own room!

Disclaimer: As when creating any scrubs or facial masks, test in a small area on your skin to first make sure your skin is not sensitive or irritated by the scrub. If your skin turns red, rinse immediately with soap and water.

Please use face masks responsibly.

Oatmeal and Yogurt Face Mask

What you need: Oatmeal (preferably grounded), yogurt (plain), honey

This mask is simple and easy to create in almost any setting. Simply mix the yogurt and the oatmeal together in a bowl. Warm a few drops of honey on the side and gradually stir into the mixture. Apply the mask onto your cleansed face and leave it on for 10 minutes. Rinse off with warm water, pat dry and moisturize!

Original Recipe can be found here.

Mayonnaise Facial Mask

What you need: Mayo, 1/2 Tbsp honey, 1/2 Tbsp lemon juice

It sounds weird, but trust me. Your skin will never look better after using this mask. The mayonnaise will help moisturize and remove dead skin and the lemon juice will help to reduce the size of pores on your skin. Just apply the mask to your cleansed face and wait for 10 minutes. Then wipe it off and rinse your face with cool water. Your face should feel super smooth!

P.S. you can also use this mask on your hair! Just leave it on for 10 minutes and rinse the mayo out for a nice sheen!

Exact instructions can be found here.

Honey and Banana Face Mask

What you need: 1/2 Banana, 2 Tbsp honey, 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)

Bananas are the ingredient to create an all-natural mask that will moisturize your skin and make it super soft! Mash the banana until it has a smooth consistency and then add in the honey and cinnamon and apply onto your cleansed face. Let it sit for 10-20 minutes and rinse it off with cold water. This rejuvenating mask will help sooth dry, irritated skin. But for those of you with super sensitive skin, you may want to avoid the cinnamon.

Avocado Face Mask

What you need: 1 avocado

Avocados are the perfect way to recycle old or aged avocados that you may be too scared to eat. Avocados are high in fats and will help to both cleanse and soothe your skin.

Original Recipe found here.

Yogurt-Lemon Mask

What you need: 2 Tbsp plain yogurt, 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice

This mask is best for those of you with oily and blemish-prone skin. Combine the yogurt with the lemon juice, apply to your cleansed face and let it harden for 20 minutes (you can leave it on for up to an hour). Rinse the mask off when finished and your face will instantly look tight and lifted.

Bonus: Pamper yourself even more by making your very own exfoliating lip scrub! All you need is sugar (both brown or white will work) and honey!
