Five Places for Your Perfect Date

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at American chapter.

Did you meet your perfect match on Tinder? Stumble upon your perfect match at the check-out line of Eagle’s Nest? If you’re dying to meet up and in need of some recommendations of where to go around town, then this is for you! Listed below are the best places in D.C. to have your date. But if you’re anything like me, in which you have no Tinder dates, take your best friend out and try to explore some awesome new places to eat around town.

1. Tryst (Adams Morgan)

2459 18th St NW, Washington, DC 20009

(202) 232-5500

Tryst is the perfect place to go for a coffee-date, a cute breakfast/brunch or after-dinner hangout. Located in Adams Morgan, Tryst is known for being a trendy cafe that gets unusually crowded on the weekends. There’s usually live jazz at night, and they offer a wide variety of food and beverages like sandwiches, teas, coffees, smoothies, and tons of pastries. If you’re looking for a place to fill the awkward silences of a first date, I’d definitely recommend Tryst.

P.S. Try ordering a latte, they come with cute little animal crackers!

Bonus: You can also stop by their other coffee shop Open City in Woodley Park

2. Carving Room (Judiciary Square)

300 Massachusetts Ave NW, Washington, DC 20002

(202) 525-2116

The Carving Room is the perfect place to go if you’re meeting someone for casual drinks. They have tasty sandwiches (their Reubens are to die for), and I would recommend their Harissa wings. The Carving Room is a casual place to bring a meat-lover. They make their own meats, and they have a pretty wide beer selection menu, including micro brews and craft brews. Date or no date, you should definitely stop by.

3. The Tombs (Georgetown)

1226 36th St NW, Washington, DC 20007

(202) 337-6668

Tombs is awesome because they offer excellent food, a huge bar and great service. You can never go wrong with Tombs. After dinner, take a nice walk around Georgetown and stop by the Waterfront.

Warning: May be overly cheesy, but this will make for a very romantic date experience.

4. Oyamel Cocina Mexicana (Penn Quarter)

401 7th St NW, Washington, DC 20004

(202) 628-1005

Oyamel is the perfect place to go if you’re in the mood to get a little dressed up and not afraid to spend some money. Oyamel was started by restaurateur Jose Andreas, the genius who’s also responsible for Jaleo, minibar, Pepe and Zaytinya. Oyamel serves Mexican small plates and they offer pretty margaritas, wine and tequila. They also offer a huge range of vegetarian options to choose from. Overall, the food here is amazing, and you must get the made-to-order guacamole.

Bonus: Score some cute points by splitting tapas with your date!

5. Kramerbooks and Afterwords Cafe & Grill (Dupont Circle)

1517 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20036

(202) 387-1400

Kramerbooks and Afterwords Cafe is a cute cafe that mixes eating and reading. The cafe has both an open street side, and enclosed patio. They serve delicious food, which makes for the perfect place to bring a date for brunch, lunch, or cute coffee date.

Bonus: Dolcezza Gelato (Dupont Circle)

1560 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, DC 20007

(202) 333-4646

If you’re in the area, I would also recommend stopping by Dolcezza Gelato for some awesome coffee, or a simple dessert.
