In Washington, D.C., it’s hard not be a foodie. With a million and one amazing restaurants to try, it may be difficult fitting a weekend into your schedule where you stay home and cook for yourself! The adventure of exploring food in D.C. usually goes as follows: find a cute restaurant, order the best thing on the menu, Instagram it to make all your friends jealous and enjoy said meal. Boom. D.C. foodie status achieved. But what if it were easier than that? What if all the foods came to you, all at one awesome festival? Lucky for you, that festival already exists, and it’s called Taste of DC.
Taste of DC is an annual festival held right here in the heart of the District for any and all food lovers! Its website describes the festival as a “multi-day culinary and cultural event in the heart of the Nation’s Capital.” This year, the event will be held on Oct. 10 and 11 from noon to 7 p.m., which is just in time for American University’s Fall Break.
For all you AU students sticking around for the break, you should definitely head on over to Taste of DC. If you’re a die-hard foodie, the festival’s Restaurant Row was made for you. Fifty of D.C.’s local restaurants will be offering festival attendees up to four delicious items on their menu and will have a special tasting menu for festival goers that is priced between $1-$3 per item!
If the variety of delicious foods aren’t enough to make you want to go, our readers also get a special discount.
Festival tickets cost $20, but for our readers there is a $5 off discount. This link will take you to your discounted ticket offer with the promo code “Her Campus”.
Take it from someone who’s been to the festival in the past, it’s a great time. I went my freshmen year and walked away with the biggest smile on my face. The restaurants I was introduced to at the festival have become some of my favorite spots to eat at in D.C. So grab a friend or whoever is in town with you this Fall Break, buy your tickets and go eat some great food. See you at Taste of DC!
